Happy Wednesday, First name / friend!
Ixi and I were talking the other day about hope, and how it's so important to our health and wellbeing.
It's really true… my sister and I used to joke that looking forward to something was over half the fun of it! I think that's because there is so much hope involved when you're looking forward to something - you imagine how great it will feel and that feeling alone is like a blanket of comfort!
When I look out on the times it has been easiest for me to put in the work and enjoy the process, it has been because I am rooted in hope. But, I totally get it. It can be easy to get bogged down by why things won't work, or look out at the obstacles ahead and feel beyond overwhelmed. When you're feeling yourself going down the negative Nancy rabbit hole (real place), we urge you to ask yourself this question:
But what if it works?!
Part of why we love working on this platform is because we want to bring you hope. We want this to be a place for you to turn to when you need a little jolt of optimism, a reminder that there is a path forward for you to do incredible things. Having that dose of hope is magic. As Emily Dickinson said…
Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul - and sings the tunes without the words - and never stops at all.
What can you hope for this week? Look forward to? Even if it's a coffee tomorrow, or 10 minutes of yoga before bed, or an epic summer adventure. How can you flood your mind with hopeful ideas instead of doomful ideas? Doomful is not a word but… it is now. 😂 How can you root yourself in hope? That doesn't mean you ignore obstacles. That means you acknowledge them - and build confidence around conquering them. Something to think about… !
In clarinet land, we had such a fantastic workshop with Dr. Kim Cole Luevano on Saturday. She taught with such generosity and shared so much - it was inspiring! Here's a mini warm up inspired by her workshop. Thanks, Dr. Cole!
