Dear First name / friend

Weird weather everywhere, isn't it? Even in our part of the country (sunny So. Calif.) it's warm and windy. I guess that isn't so weird, but we are in the throes of a drought and that's never good.

We spent a long weekend in Missouri (Lake of the Ozarks) where we truly got a taste of HOT (103-106 every day, until we departed). Even the lake was warm (85degrees), which is hardly refreshing. And, fortunate for us, we flew out of St. Louis the day before the horrible floods hit.

My teaching continues to focus on breath after reading the book, Restoring Prana, by Robin Rothenberg. In fact, I am reading it again and learning more. There may be a breath uprising pretty soon, as in students saying ‘enough already’; in the meantime, I am enjoying learning and teaching some new-to-me material.

I've also been revisiting intentionality in our poses. I encourage students to pay attention to ALL the poses (as opposed to just our BIG poses). This intentionality adds great pleasure to my practice and my hope is that this will translate in my teaching..

on my end table:
Restoring Prana by Robin Rothenberg. A revealing book on more of the wonders of our breath and our bodies.

Belgravia by Julian Fellowes. By the author of Downton Abbey, this book is of the same ‘ilk’. Kept my attention and was a good companion for nighttime reading.
for more light reading:
  1. Strong Thigh Muscles help Knee Osteoarthritis
  2. A yogauonline article on aging gracefully.
  3. This recipe is the ‘bomb’ (even I made it):
  4. Cup of Jo newsletter — lots of interesting and fun articles and links.
  5. And, a recipe for roasted vegetables - I made this for a potluck; tasted great and the leftovers, even better.
  6. My recent blog post is available for reading.

Until next time,
Leslie
