Dear First name / friend,
Weird weather everywhere, isn't it? Even in our part of the country (sunny So. Calif.) it's warm and windy. I guess that isn't so weird, but we are in the throes of a drought and that's never good.
We spent a long weekend in Missouri (Lake of the Ozarks) where we truly got a taste of HOT (103-106 every day, until we departed). Even the lake was warm (85degrees), which is hardly refreshing. And, fortunate for us, we flew out of St. Louis the day before the horrible floods hit.
My teaching continues to focus on breath after reading the book, Restoring Prana, by Robin Rothenberg. In fact, I am reading it again and learning more. There may be a breath uprising pretty soon, as in students saying ‘enough already’; in the meantime, I am enjoying learning and teaching some new-to-me material.
I've also been revisiting intentionality in our poses. I encourage students to pay attention to ALL the poses (as opposed to just our BIG poses). This intentionality adds great pleasure to my practice and my hope is that this will translate in my teaching..
