Hey love!

In celebration of launching my Rich Life Blueprint programme, I am sharing some sh*t hot business development tips with you. This email is packed full of practical value for business owners and freelancers.

If you are serious about growing your income, grab a cup of tea and read on…!

Rich Life Business Development Tip #2:
Get clear on your money beliefs and how they are blocking you

Did you know that your beliefs shape everything? From your health to your finances. This is why I am obsessed with mindset coaching. Because I want to improve my life!

As an entrepreneur or biz owner, if you don’t have awareness of your belief system, your business will stagnant or even tank (if you have unhelpful conditioning that’s sabotaging your success).

This is what we focus on in my Rich Life Blueprint group coaching programme! How to create a kick-ass plan for your business AND get clarity on your belief systems that are shaping your results. You want to upgrade BOTH to create financial success.

Let’s explore your money beliefs NOW and how they may be blocking you.

Your Money Beliefs and how they impact your cashflow

When you’re thinking your products/services and how you earn money, you may have these thoughts:
  1. “I want to help everyone”
  2. “I want my work to be accessible” Or “I don’t want to price people out”
  3. “I don’t want to feed the capitalist system - it's causing so much inequality” (this is a really juicy one!)

Sound familiar at all, First name / lovely? I hear you. These cropped up a lot for me when I first started working for myself.

Let’s dig into each of these beliefs, how they are likely creating financial struggle for you and how to shift them:

Thought #1: “I want to help everyone”

Maybe you feel resistance to narrowing your audience down. I definitely used to feel this! If you relate to that as well,First name / my friend, be curious of a “Saviour” style persona that’s showing up for you: of wanting to help everyone.

For me, exploring this impulse revealed that I didn’t feel comfortable seeing others in pain, so wanted to “save them” (this related to childhood trauma). And I wanted also to feel seen! (Hello again, childhood trauma!) Hence, I wanted to target ALL THE PEOPLE!

I hate to break it to you, but this strategy of “trying to help everyone” is really ineffective. Why?
  1. It’s kind of exhausting! It will be draining you by taking up so much headspace trying to think of everyone’s needs and how to target them.
  2. By trying to reach everyone, you end up diluting your message and even causing confusion. Like, what DO you actually do?? Your impact is weaker by trying to speak to everyone. As a result, you engagement on social media may be quite low (which may feed your frustration and resistance to showing up on social media because you feel like “it's not working”)
  3. Are you actually HELPING people? Or are you supporting them in finding their own way? It’s more than just semantics. By believing you are “helping” people, this can create an unhealthy power dynamic or a relationship of dependency. Be vigilant about wanting to “help”, and instead focus on how you can serve.
Get clear on who you want to support. And then make sure that is clear in your messaging on your platforms (website, social media, email marketing, etc).
A big clue here is: your ideal client may be an earlier version of YOU! Similar mindset, needs and challenges. You can speak authentically to them in your marketing!

Trust that you are not limiting yourself by narrowing your audience. You can have a variety of products for different audiences. You don’t need to turn people away. For example, I hold space for men occasionally, but deeper aspects of their journey may be best placed for a men’s coach. So I joyfully refer such clients to amazing men I am connected to! Or if someone came to me following a bereavement, my training means I can support them to some degree. But if their needs were more specialist than I could ethically support, I may gently guide them towards another coach/therapist.

In this way, I can still serve all sorts of people who may be drawn to me. You can do the same!

Thought #2: “I want my work to be accessible”
Or “I don’t want to price people out”

Are you often giving away your time for free? Or heavily discounting your work? Unless you can afford to do this, very cautious with this approach.

Why? No one benefits when you give too much for free. The likelihood is, some part of you may feel awkward accepting money. So you end up creating financial struggle, which doesn’t help anyone. The stress and anxiety it creates for you leaks into the work you do. You already know this. Because you understand the power of energy and how it shapes reality and impacts the people we serve.

You can offer discounted rates for people with low income or even free spots gifted when it feels abundant to do so. That said, do not assume what people can or cannot afford. Notice where you are projecting onto people and making assumptions. It’s actually quite insulting to do that! And who are you to decide what people should spend their money on??

If you are giving your time for free, what are you receiving? For example, can you ask for a review? Or get their email address? Or ask for a referral to someone else? It’s ok to ask for something in return when you give your time/energy/products for free. You are giving, so be open to receiving - otherwise you are creating an energetic imbalance.

SIDE NOTE: Let me be clear: struggling with money is not a noble cause. Disguise it with whatever personal values you like, it’s most probably a mental block or pocket of trauma stopping you from growing personally and financially by charging decent £ for your work. If it triggers you reading that, GOOD! Be curious about the story that's coming up for you :) This is self-knowledge GOLD!

What else is also true is that you can have accessible content that helps people AND charge reasonable rates that get your income where you want it to be.

It gets to be BOTH, not OR.

This is creative, abundant thinking. I’d love to invite you to focus on solutions for your clients at a variety of price points. This is what we are covering in my Rich Life Blueprint group coaching programme. You should totally join me for that! Find out more here.

Also, please know that that it is perfectly OK to up your rates as you grow. You can have a variety of products and price points to satisfy a range of income levels.

Thought #3: “I don’t want to feed the capitalist system
- it's causing so much inequality”

An ideological stance of being reluctant to “feed the system” could also make you resistant to asking for more money. “Isn’t wanting more money just fuelling the demise of society??” Some part of you may think.

Oh my, I have been around the houses with this! I have “liberal” leanings, and so have agonised over money, privilege and how my business may just be “feeding the system”.

I’ll share with you what feels true and embodied for me now. This is after A LOT of soul searching, research, therapy, breathwork and coaching. Really. It’s been a huge area for me to explore.

What I know to be true (this may change as I evolve in my awareness):

You and I are here for a reason. In this lifetime, in this life circumstance.

You have a choice:
  1. Fight the system and create struggle for yourself
  2. Or work with the existing system, understanding that you can shape and direct the flow of money towards more ethical and beautiful things in this world
The truth is, you struggling financially in pursuit of upholding your values (which you feel “The System” may not be aligned to) actually disempowers only YOU. The system is not wounded by you restricting yourself in this way. You wound only yourself.

I say “use your privilege for good”. Leverage what you’ve got! Rather than waste the gift, you know? If you are reading this email, then you *are* inherently privileged! If that is triggering to read, pause for a moment, breathe and notice the wounded stories.

I get that it’s tough. And things can seem real f*cked up in the world! I also know you are here to create beautiful things. And you have the power to shape your own reality.

The system is shifting and old parts are dying off. That’s why it feels really unstable and chaotic in the world at times. I want to be the architect for the future. And that requires action. How about you, First name / my friend?

Are you going to sit back and play small?

Or step forward with courage and faith in your heart, empowered that you are creating a beautiful future NOW?

Reflect on what you have going in your favour! Rather than discard the amazing opportunities here for you to use. Someone in this world would probably kill to have the life you have.

So with that in mind, let’s step up to the plate!!
