Attention all A4/Siromed Physicians! Do you have an interest in investing and retirement planning? You do not need any formal experience, just a desire and passion to participate and learn. 

 

Dr. Michael Dorsey is looking to transition the mantle of leadership as the Chair of the Retirement Committee. The retirement plan is an extremely important piece of compensation and benefit to the A4 community. If this sounds like an endeavor that would interest you, the requirements of the candidate are below:

Ideally, we have multiple candidates that are diverse both as a person and their primary place of practice. It is important that the chair works to establish respect and trust of the group. A critical asset is someone who can communicate efficiently and fairly with the participants when any issues may arise. This person would need to be diligent with their time as there's many items that may spring up that would have to be dealt with, such as meetings, minutes, IRS forms, end of the year calculations, etc. Attention to detail and time management is critical. Fortunately, the plan is in good shape and has been performing well. We see no major changes or transitions in the next few years, unless the government forces our hand. 

 

Dr. Dorsey estimates he spends on average six to eight hours per month in his role and that mostly consists of shorter tasks. It's not critical that the candidate be very knowledgeable about the workings of retirement plans as the consultants and in house people are extremely helpful. A passion to learn and a commitment to the value of the benefit is important. Dr. Dorsey is allowing plenty of time for the transition to occur, and a timeline where the new chair would sit on the committee for 2022. In 2023, they would become the chair and Dr. Dorsey would remain on the committee through at least 2023.

VBR is Valued-Based Reimbursement. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has developed a Value-Based Reimbursement model to reward Primary Care Physicians and Specialists. This new innovative approach to provider reimbursement shifts from the traditional fee-for-service model to a value-based care model. 

 

Specialists who participate in PGIP can receive reimbursement in accordance with the Value-Based Reimbursement Fee Schedule. This sets reimbursement at greater than 100% of the standard fee schedule. All physician specialty types, including chiropractors, podiatrists, and fully-licensed psychologists are eligible to be considered for specialist value-based reimbursement. Oakland Southfield Physicians was founded in 1986 as an association of independently practicing physicians with an intention to free physicians from the administrative burdens of managing contracts with third-party payers and other business details. Doing this allows physicians to spend more time caring for patients and less time running a business. Physicians who belong to Oakland Southfield Physicians furnish medical care to their patients through their own independent medical practices. Their name describes their roots as an association based in Oakland County, but doesn't define the geographic region of current members. They have doctors in Oakland, Wayne, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Livingston Counties. They have doctors anywhere and everywhere between.
