SPRING 2022

seven things

Inspiration, Eating, Listening, Watching, Reading, Working & Making
NEW HERE?  YOU"LL WANNA READ THIS FIRST.
How have you been?  It's been ages, again.

Which is because I keep waiting for the perfect time to sit down and write this - not because I have any major news, but because the world continues to greatly disappoint me and quite frankly, I've been struggling with that.  A lot.  I've also been struggling with getting older - my birthday was last month - and a new part of me aches every damn day. (Cliches are cliches because they're true!)

But our lives have been busier than ever - since the start of the pandemic at least - with our house full of family, and our jobs keeping us on our toes.  I've really been trying to find some sort of daily rhythm.  I keep working on finding balance where I can, but I've always had a hard time knowing when to rest, and lately it's harder than ever.

So I'm just doing my best, taking it one day at a time, and relishing the…
small moments of joy:
  • Listening to the vacuum do its thing every day.  It's not at all an exaggeration to say that it has changed our lives for the better. Wish I had gotten it sooner.
  • Entertaining people at home again. Backyard Movie Night!  Out of Town Guests!
  • Getting to see some of my family in person twice this year instead of only once.
  • The community of birbs in our backyard have been endlessly amusing.  Who knew doves were so ridiculous?
  • Afternoon iced coffees on the back patio.
  • My new mantra.
  • The serotonin burst I got from this pink deck flooring.
  • Slow Horses was great  and surprisingly fun.
  • This is a QUILT?!?!
  • This thread of Mitch Hedberg lines
  • The best boat names tell stories.
  • Underlit Entry Steps (!!!!!!)
  • All.  The.  Babies.
  • The chemistry between these two.  (I enjoyed this season WAY more.)
  • Simple light paintings.
  • This bread is so easy even I can bake it.  Makes fantastic toast.
  • "Okay guys, um, This… is my actual Mom."
  • Very specific memories of a day you remember being truly, totally happy.
