“At last came the golden month of the wild folk-- honey-sweet May, when the birds come back, and the flowers come out, and the air is full of the sunrise scents and songs of the dawning year.”
– Samuel Scoville Jr., Wild Folk

It's finally here! The merry month of May! It's an exciting time when every day something new is blooming. We find ourselves in the garden almost daily - what is it about the garden that beckons us to come? I explore this connection that we have with our gardens in my latest blog post ‘In My Garden". I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read and ponder it. You'll find the link below.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THIS SUMMER . . .
We are planning a once-a-month Art-in-the-Garden event featuring the work of local artists and makers. Watch for more info about these ‘Second Sundays in the Garden'. And for the kiddos, Jane is planning ‘Bella Summer Storytime’ which will be held Thursday mornings beginning June 16. Each themed session will feature a story that she'll read and a nature activity. n

May can be a hectic month, but I hope you'll make time to walk in your garden, see the beauty, and be refreshed. Stop in soon and say hello.
In the words of Charles Macklin,
“You are as welcome as the flowers in May.”

In my garden . . .

It was dusk and had just rained - a sweet, summer kind of rain. She walked through the beautiful, lush gardens. There was music playing in the background, and the breeze carried waves of distant conversation. Yet she walked, her long gown trailing over sopping grass, her fingers running through tall grasses, stopping only to smell the flowers. Such is my memory of a scene from the 1992 version of 'Howards End'. It was the lovely garden and the peaceful smile on Mrs. Wilcox's face that has and will stay with me for a long time. . . .

Let's Talk Plants!
“A New Look at Companion Plants”
Did you know there are certain plants that attract beneficial insects that help fend off pesky pests that attack vegetable plants?
Join me for an online gardening discussion the second Wednesday of the month. We'll begin with a specific topic - this month it's Companion Plants. Based on my recent blog post, we'll continue the discussion. My hope is that we can share experiences and ideas, and learn from each other!
Click here to get your spot. You'll receive the Zoom link a couple days before the discussion.
