Hi friends!
I flew into King Island yesterday on a terrifyingly small aeroplane. I think it had 15 seats, but only 5 passengers (plus one oversized camera bag strapped down on one seat - I didn't realise the plane was too small to have overhead lockers), and I could almost touch the pilots. They were so close together that their shoulders bumped, and I couldn't help but notice while they reassuringly had four stripes on their sleeves - there was space for six. Was that a bad omen?
And now I'm back on King Island for the week for a few shoots, breathing in the scent of holidays from my childhood. My mother grew up here, and we used to visit my grandparents each Easter holidays - shark fishing, cray eating, mutton birding. It's wild and wonderful here, and you should make the same terrifying journey over here - it seems that four stripes on a pilot is enough to get you here safely!
