The Weekly Roundup

Good Morning and Happy Friday Everyone!

Have you ever felt like you are in a holding pattern and don't know which way to go? I have been feeling like I am in a holding pattern lately. I have been thinking about changing things up with my blog and online boutique, but I am stuck as to what I want to do and where to start first. I am also thinking about a makeover for myself, maybe a haircut and new hair style, maybe a hair color change, I don't know. All I know is, I have been in a rut for the last year or so and I need change, but I haven't figured out the direction I need to go so I sit in this holding pattern waiting for the street light to turn on and light up the road that I need to start traveling on to get myself to where I want to be. I know that time is coming, so until then I will continue to wait as patiently as I can and as soon as that street light turns on,  I will be off and running towards the changes I need to make to be a better version of myself and to make my business better too!

If you have every been stuck in a holding pattern and found your way to a better place for yourself, let me know how you did it by hitting the “Reply To Me” button down below and let's talk about it! I would appreciate any advice or suggestions you may have!

Now, let's continue on with this week's roundup!

This Week's Favorites

Here's What I Have Been Loving This Week:

George Foreman 4 Serving Removable Plate Electric Grill & Panini PressThis all purpose electric grill is fantastic! I use it to grill chicken breasts, chicken tenders, turkey burgers as well as a panini press for quesadillas and different sandwiches and is great for grilled cheese sandwiches too. The possibilities are endless with what you can do with this electric grill!

The non-stick removable plates keep food from sticking, so no need to use excess oil or butter and cleanup is easy. Just remove the cooled grill plates and place in the dishwasher! I use this grill all of the time, I love it and definitely recommend! ($29.96)

Products I Am Testing This Week

Here's What I Have Been Testing Out This Week:

Dial Marula Oil Nourishing Body Wash - I know this was last week's fail, but I have been continuing to test this body wash out and I am starting to really like it. I love the fragrance and although this isn't as moisturizing as my beloved Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash, I am really enjoying using this body wash and will repurchase again as soon as this is empty. ($4.46 for 21 oz.)

Trader Joe's Nourish All-In-One Facial Cleanser - I started using this a few days ago and I will say as of right now, I do like this cleanser. My skin feels clean with slight dryness, but not to the point that I need to apply moisturizer immediately after washing my face. I have not tried to remove makeup with this cleanser yet, but I will put this to the makeup removal test this weekend. ($5.99 for 8.45 oz.)

Equate Beauty Antiplaque & Whitening Toothpaste (in Peppermint & fluoride free) - I have used Toms of Maine Antiplaque & Whitening Toothpaste off and on for years, so I decided to give this “dupe” a try to see if it is as good as or better than it's brand name counterpart. So far (after using this for two days), I like this toothpaste, but of course, I will continue to test this out until it's gone at which time I will decide if I will repurchase or not. ($2.97 for 5.5 oz. tube)

My Favorite Treats

Good morning friends and happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week! Last week I shared what I eat everyday, so this week I thought I would share the treats (or as mama likes to call them “dog cookies”) I really like and enjoy every day in moderation of course:

MY FAVORITE TREATS

Trader Joe's Beef Recipe Jerky Strips - These treats are my all time favorite! However, Trader Joe's has been out of stock of these for a couple of months, but mama found them back on the shelf earlier this week and picked up two bags and I did the happy dance as soon as I saw them! ($2.69 for 6 oz. bag)

Purina Beggin' Dog Treats - I really like these treats, but mama says these are not the best ingredient wise for me, but mama did buy these for me until Trader Joe's restocked my all time favorite treats! ($3.18 for 6 oz. bag)

Trader Joe's Natural Dog Treats - These crunchy dog treats comes in different shapes (like cats, fire hydrants, bones, cars) and flavors (chicken, cheese, bacon/cheese & peanut butter) and are very good, but these have not returned to the shelf as of this week. Hopefully these dog treats will be restocked soon. ($3.49 for 24 oz. box)

Milk Bone Flavor Snacks Crunchy Dog Treats - As with the Beggin Dog Treats, mama says these treats are not the best for me ingredient wise, but these sure are good and I love the different flavors of beef, chicken & turkey, so I will continue to eat these until the Natural Dog Treats are restocked at Trader Joe's.

That's all I have for you this week. I hope you all have a great Friday and fun filled weekend! I will bark with you all again next week and remember, adopt, don't shop!

This Week's Recipe
Avocado Ranch Pork Chops & Rice

AVOCADO RANCH PORK CHOPS & RICE

It only takes 5 minutes of prep time for this recipe, which makes it perfect for a busy weeknight. You cook the rice and pork chops at the same time, so you can have a home-cooked dinner on the table in 30 minutes! Serve with fresh avocado and cilantro on top to make it look as good as it tastes! Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 3 Cups Water
  • 2 Cups Frozen Seasoned Southwest Vegetable Blend (corn, peppers, onions)
  • 1 1 oz. envelope ranch dressing mix (amount divided in recipe directions below)
  • 1 ½ Cups Uncooked Long Grain White Rice
  • 6 Boneless Pork Chops, 3/4-inch thick (about 2 pounds)
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 10 ½ oz. Can Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 3/4 Cup Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro (or fresh chopped flat leaf parsley)
  • 1 Avocado, Pitted, Peeled, and Diced (about 1 cup)
Directions:
  1. Heat the water, frozen vegetables and 1/2 package dressing mix in a 3-quart saucepan over medium-high heat to a boil. Stir in the rice. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  2. While the rice is cooking, season the pork with salt and pepper and sprinkle with the chili powder. Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork and cook for 6 minutes (make sure the skillet and oil are hot before adding the pork to prevent sticking) or until browned on both sides. Stir in the soup, milk and remaining 1/2 package dressing mix and heat to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the pork is done.
  3. Stir the cilantro into the hot cooked rice. Top the pork with the avocado and additional chopped cilantro, if desired. Serve the pork and sauce with the rice.
Prep Time: 5 minutes. Total Time: 30 minutes. Serves: 6 people. Calories: 486 per serving.

I am so grateful for each and every one of you! Without you all, Glam Budget Beauty would not exist, so thank you for being here and…
Until next week, have a happy, healthy and beautiful weekend!
