Hello dear First name / one,

It would seem in the last two years that struggle, adversity, and anxiety have been constant companions. For many, a dysregulated nervous system has become the norm. With each new tragedy our breath hitches a little higher, our jaws clench in anticipation, and we steel ourselves for the next argument or protest or assault. There are few that the news doesn’t touch, and many of us are experiencing the complicated juxtaposition of being both adrenalized and jaded. This environment only breeds reactions, not responses. When our sympathetic nervous system is over-activated, the neurons in our reticular alarm system can only focus on the stimulants that threaten our safety and it begins to look for them. In this state of heightened arousal, we are unable to take the space to process our emotions and think critically. Therefore we cannot respond capably.

It is to our benefit that we master self-regulation, as well as the benefit of our greater community. When we balance our nervous system, we can take in more information, deepen our understanding of complex issues, and find or create better courses of action. By no means is this a suggestion of spiritual or emotional bypassing. In fact, it is an assertion of the necessity for deep spiritual and emotional reflection—personally and collectively.

This weekend’s Full Supermoon in Scorpio and total lunar eclipse serves a strong cocktail of astrological energy that could push us out of our comfort zones, but into new ways of thinking and communicating in the coming weeks.

I’ve always loved the Full Moon in Scorpio for the inescapable reminder of the relationship between spring and the underworld, life from death, Persephone, Inanna, and the balance of light and dark. Six months ago, at the New Moon in Scorpio, we were releasing shallow relationships and choosing ritual over routine. Now, we see blooms where there was once death and decay. The full moon in May is called the Flower Moon or the Hare Moon for the hare’s relationship to the Euro-Pagan goddess Eostre and the Moon Goddess in American Indigenous and Eastern Asian cultures. In Chinese folklore, the hare in the moon is the servant of the Moon Goddess, pounding the elixir of life with a mortar and pestle. Choosing new life, birth itself, requires the spiritual and emotional work of milling, refining, blending.

Tomorrow evening the Full Moon will appear much larger in the sky, totally eclipsing the Earth’s shadow around 9:11pm PST and reaching her zenith at 9:13pm PST. A Full Moon in Scorpio asks you to reflect deeply on your relationships, your shadow and your emotional world, and this one makes a challenging square to Saturn in Aquarius. Be prepared for setbacks and for tensions around limitations. You may encounter moral dilemmas and profound tests of character. Saturn always comes around to teach us a lesson, but there are fortuitous aspects to this moon as well. A trine with Mars and Neptune (both conjunct in Pisces) gives us a boost of confidence to face our fears and take responsibility, and offers an emotional sensitivity that can create the space for spiritual reflection. Be wary of taking this Neptunian energy so far as delusional thinking, but it should help to process the complex ideas and messages that have recently felt so heavy.

And yes, Mercury is stationed retrograde for the next couple weeks, but during tomorrow’s moon it aligns with the Part of Fortune in Gemini suggesting that we find happiness and success through rethinking what and how we are communicating. Perhaps what we’ve always been taught, or “how it’s always been done” is over. It's time to take action in a new and informed direction.

Dig deep into your spiritual reserves and share what you find.
We all need to hear it.

FOR THE BODY

Scorpio rules the sex organs, the anus, the pelvic bone and the pelvic floor.

This area also corresponds to the second chakra, the seat of creation. If you have a defined sacral in Human Design, now is a great time to get in touch with that generative creative reserve. If you're undefined here, have a check-in with yourself about your energy levels lately.

â—¦
As it is also Taurus season and Taurus loves pleasure, try something new with yourself or with a partner. Experiment with a different toy. Be open to receiving someone else's fantasy, and sharing yours.

â—¦
Wear labradorite for protection and bloodstone for courage.

â—¦
Make a basil pesto or add a kick to savory dishes with horseradish.

Earlier this week, Honored Body launched three new offerings. The signature INITIATION has been refined to offer substantial support to those who are looking to not only understand their design intellectually, but to move beyond the words into full embodiment. Embodying one's design is more than knowing the difference of Strategy and Authority, it is using them in practice in real life. It is experiencing harmony in life. Therefore INITIATION has become a sequence, a container that includes a 90-minute Comprehensive Human Design Reading + Intro to Somatic Deconditioning, followed by three or five Counsel+Embodiment sessions. Initiates also receive a keynote/workbook, a recording of their reading, and the opportunity to work with transits as they affect their design.

For those who are local to or visiting PDX, Honored Body has teamed up with House Nine to offer in person Human Design readings! We are so excited about this offering as being in the room together will offer so much more in terms of Somatic coaching of Human Design.

And last, but certainly not least, Honored Body is now offering three deeply discounted sessions for first time clients per month. Office Hours are 60-minute one-on-one sessions to ask any questions you have about Human Design, embodiment and deconditioning. Times for May are posted below.

In the last three weeks, I have been a host in many literal and figurative ways, to old friends, to new friends, to a virus, and to new ideas. It does not escape me that this “hosting” is also an analogy for pregnancy, and during the last stages of springtime the greater community of my country is facing treacherous revocations of bodily autonomy. I do not draw these parallels obtusely. I do not take these issues lightly. I do believe that we are in a critical time as a community and a collective, and I also believe that as individuals our inner work is imperative to outer progress. As I have shared before in the Paradox of Individuation, we must learn ourselves fully in order to understand our unique contribution to the collective.

Ahead I will be sharing my own experience with the “I can do it myself” narrative, and the damage it can cause. CW: I will be discussing mental health issues, self-harm, borderline personality disorder, and the experience of hearing voices. Once we begin to see our individuation as imperative to unity—when we can hold a separate truth in each hand and marry the two—we will experience true collective progress.
