I'm Hosting A Summer Cookbook Club!
Remember when we were growing up, and the local public library would host a summer reading club?  They would provide a list of grade-appropriate books, and your job was to read as many as you could over the summer, competing with no one but yourself?  And, if your library was really stellar, remember how they would provide a sticker chart so you could track your progress?

Remember how you thought you were having a blast (this reading club is so fun!), but secretly your mom knew that reading all of those books was keeping your mind sharp and your vocabulary honed?  It's almost like the summer reading club was designed to…make learning fun?

Take that same vibe, the same goal of making learning fun, the same motivating sticker chart, but swap the children's literature for a cookbook, and voila! you have my Summer Cookbook Club!

This summer I am playing the role of local public library and inviting you to join me in the kitchen to learn something new while having all the fun.  There will be enticing recipes, opportunities for community, and best of all, a sticker chart!

Here is how the Summer Cookbook Club works…

The Cookbook.
We will be cooking selected recipes from Modern Comfort Food by Ina Garten.  I have not cooked a single item from this cookbook (it was released after the Ina In A Year project), and I am ready to discover a new crop of delicious Ina creations.

The Dates.
Summer Cookbook Club begins the week of June 6 and will span seven weeks.  Technically, there are only six weeks' worth of recipes, but I am throwing a freebie week in there to account for the July 4th holiday, and to allow a chance for you to catch up or take a break.

The Recipes.
Each week we will be cooking two recipes from Modern Comfort Food, designed to be served together.  Some weeks are simpler than others, but all of the weeks are sure to be delicious.  Some of the chosen recipes are cocktails, which may or may not be your speed, but you are free to choose what you cook or don't cook.

The Commitment.
Summer Cookbook Club is free to join, and can be as much or as little as you want it to be.  Feeling like going all in?  Cook all the recipes on time and fill up your sticker chart!  Feel like keeping your options open?  Make what sounds good to you and leave the rest.  You make your own rules.

Once you join the Summer Cookbook Club, you will receive an email with all the details including the recipe line up and the printable sticker chart, plus details on how to win an exciting prize!

Maybe you have a friend or two that you think might want to participate?  I think cooking along with friends would be the most fun!  Please feel free to forward this email to them!

“In hospitality, we don't wait until everything is just right before we begin creating space.  We do it now.  Right where we are.  In the midst of imperfection.  When we use our home to welcome others, it is always more than enough.”
"To celebrate well while also allowing myself to feel the stings of sorrow seems a fitting way to embrace the bittersweet season of letting go."
