Long exposure photo of the early morning view - Middlehurst Muster
The stars are dancing.

This is a long exposure photograph (10 seconds) where mid-photo (at the 5 sec. mark of exposing) I turned the camera upside down to create this effect.

Hi First name / friend

A fairly personal journal this one. Where I have a wee ode to Tig, our dog that we had to say goodbye to. And next to that a photoshoot I did for Davaar & Co I'm really passionate about.

The alarm clock beeps and my eyes are struggling to open. It's 6am, I need to get out of bed now and order and Uber as soon as I can. I get dressed, say goodbye to a comatose James and shut the door behind me.

Jess and Sally are already waiting for me. The streets of Auckland CBD are empty and as I hoped and the daylight starts to appear. Just the right light I need for the photos I'm about to take for Davaar & Co.

Only a week ago I discussed with the Davaar & Co brand this photoshoot. Kate wants the Vogue vibe and a town vibe where people can recognise themselves in. She didn't need to say more as I totally understood what she wanted and she trusted me with organising the locations and the photoshoot, which I am so thankful for!

The three of us explored Auckland, a lot of its cafe's and the nooks and crannies people might walk past on regular days.

Kate's kind words:

As we had only just launched our fashion brand Davaar & Co, I was on the lookout for a photographer who could capture our seasonal collections for social media, our website and print material. Davaar & Co is a combination of farming and luxury fashion, so I wanted images that reflect Vogue and felt Fran totally understood my vision.

Not long after The Shepherdess came out, I sent Fran an email asking if we could collaborate and work together on some exciting projects I had in mind and her response was a big YES!

So far Fran has shot two campaigns for Davaar & Co and we couldn't be more thrilled with the final images. We've had a huge response from our followers and customers saying how stunning Fran's images are and how cleverly she highlights the beauty of the Davaar & Co jumpers.

It's so much fun working with Fran! She's become such a close friend, is incredibly hard working and totally understands my vision for my brand, which makes my job so easy.

Curious to know what it's like to work with me?
I explain my whole process down below:

An ode to Tiggy.

I got Tig as a pup 9 months ago, I wanted a bearded Huntaway and was very keen to start training Tig to potentially get a job on a farm. We soon learned that the Tiggerdude was different. He wasn't walking like a normal pup and his response time got slower and slower, up until a point where he was walking odd and we went to the vet. They assumed he has brain damage and there wasn't much we could do. So I changed his food, and got him on steroids for a while, Tiggy got way better (or less retardo) and we had fun! We biked, ran and walked heaps, he was just special.

His last weeks were heartbreaking, his coordination was gone, he couldn't walk, eat or drink really so we had heaps of cuddles. It was time to say goodbye. It all happened quickly and we had to decide what life this 11 month old Tig is having and if he's actually happy or not.

Tiggy is a dude, he's gentle, hilarious and such a good friend. We miss him.
