Weekly Update

Good Friday Morning Friends!

We are at the end of another week and I am happy about that! It's been hot here in Las Vegas this week with two days of 100 degree temps! But today high wind and high fire danger warnings have returned with a forecasted high of 84 degrees. The spring weather here has been weird to say the least. We have had many days of high wind, high fire danger and dust storm warnings (we have had 2 dust storms in recent weeks). My allergies are on overdrive right now and the prescription Zyrtec my doctor prescribed for me seems to work to a point and I can't believe I am saying this, but I can't wait for summer weather! I am not looking forward to over 100 degree temps every day or excessive heat warnings, but I am looking forward to no wind, no dust storms and no more allergies!

In other news, Memorial Day is next weekend and the last day of school for the kids here is May 25th and soon the first day of summer will be here and before we know it, kids will be going back to school and then the holidays will be here again! This year is flying by faster than we think, so I hope you can take some time to slow down to enjoy the good moments in your life before those good moments become distant memories.

I hope you all have a great week ahead and I will talk with you all next week! Now on to this week's update!

This Week's Favorites

Here's What I Have Been Loving This Week:

My Own Custom-Made BB CreamI posted a blog post back in early April on how to make your own BB cream with products you already have at home. It has been quite a while since I have made my own BB cream and I was reminded of that when I wrote the blog post. So, this week I made my own BB cream using my favorite moisturizer (Trader Joe's Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion SPF 15, $3.99 for 4 oz.), my favorite SPF (Equate Baby Mineral Lotion SPF 50, $4.48 for 8 oz.), my current primer (Benefit The Porefessional Hydrate Primer, $32 for 0.75 oz.), and this foundation (Revlon Photo Ready Candid Glow Foundation in shade 120 Buff, $9.90 for 0.75 oz. I also added Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in shade 23 Natural Beige, $13.95 for 1.7 oz. for more coverage). I have been wearing this homemade BB cream non-stop this week and I love the coverage, how this looks on my skin, how it wears throughout the day and it's custom-made just for me with what I had in my makeup collection and with the rising cost of drugstore makeup, this is a cost effective way to use what you have on hand without spending money! ($64.32, total cost of the products I used to create my own BB cream). For the full “recipe” ingredients and directions on how to make your own BB cream, click the link above to read the full blog post.

Products I Am Testing This Week

Here's What I Have Been Testing Out This Week:

Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser - It has been some time since I have used this cleanser and I found it hiding in the back of my hall closet last weekend, so I brought it back out. I really like this cleanser as a first cleanse and makeup remover. This removes all traces of dirt, oil, SPF and makeup (including eye makeup) and does not irritate my skin or eyes! I don't know why I set this aside, but I do like it and will continue to use it. ($9.74 for 12 oz.)

Trader Joe's Retinol Night Serum with Baobab Seed Oil & 0.3% Retinol - I started using this two weeks ago and forgot to include this here last week. I started with and continue to use 2 pumps of this serum every night and I have not experienced any irritation or redness. I was using a 14% glycolic acid serum (when I started using this serum, I could only use it 1-2 time a week for a while before I was able to build up to use every night) before this retinol serum and so far I am liking this serum, but of course I will continue to test this serum for the rest of the month to see if I notice any difference with my skin, and if I do, I will repurchase. ($9.99 for 1 oz.)

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23% +HA Spheres 2% - When I first tested this out earlier this year, it really irritated my skin so I stopped using it. I have brought it back out and have been re-testing this and my skin is nowhere near as irritated as before, and I really do like this and will use until it's gone, and if I notice a difference with my skin, I will repurchase. ($7 for 1 oz.)

We Are Instagram Famous

Good Friday Morning Friends!

What a week this has been! First, the weather around here has been quite hot with triple digit temps! Mama has not been keeping out to long on my potty breaks so I don't get overheated, which is great, but at the same time, I want to stay out longer to explore and smell everything, so I have been giving mama a hard time when she wants me to go home! Second,  Ziva the Diva and I are Instagram famous (well, we think so)! Mama started creating and uploading reels of me and Ziva on Instagram this week and so far the people viewing our reels are liking them! So, for your viewing pleasure, I will put the links to my and Ziva the Diva's Instagram Reels down below:

Here are the links to my Instagram Reels: My First Reel, My Second Reel & My Third Reel!

That's all I have for you this week, I hope you all have a sensational weekend and I will bark with you all next week and remember, adopt, don't shop!

This Week's Recipe
Classic Bean & Cheese Burritos

CLASSIC BEAN & CHEESE BURRITOS

You can't go wrong with a homemade bean and cheese burrito and this classic burrito recipe is so good because the refried beans are jazzed-up to create a tasty filling for an easy-to-wrap handheld meal that's ready in under half an hour. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:
  • 1 16 oz. Can Refried Beans
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 1 oz. Package of Taco Seasoning Mix
  • 1 11 oz. Package of Flour Tortillas for Burritos (8” in diameter)
Directions:
  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil; set aside.
  2. In medium bowl, mix beans, cheese, and taco seasoning mix.
  3. Scoop about ¼ cup of the bean mixture onto each tortilla just below the center of the tortilla. Fold bottom edge of each tortilla up and over filling. Fold sides in, overlapping to enclose filling. Roll up from bottom of tortilla. Place seam-side down on cookie sheet and bake 12 to 15 minutes or until heated through.
Serve with fresh toppings like shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa.

Prep Time: 10 minutes. Total Time: 25 minutes. Serves: 8 people. Calories: 210 per serving.

I am so grateful for each and every one of you! Without you all, Glam Budget Beauty would not exist, so thank you for being here and…
Until next week, have a happy, healthy and beautiful weekend!
Sherri
