Hi friends,
I owe you a couple of newsletters this month since I missed our May newsletter! It was a wild month. With graduation ceremonies, the flu came to visit our house (crazy how late the flu is making an appearance this year) and recent tragic events that have transpired in our country - it felt heavy and emotional. Anytime life gets crazy I pull back from sharing on IG and the blog to take time to really focus on my family and contribute in ways that I am able to in order to make a difference somehow. I encourage you to do the same.
We all have different views, perspectives and beliefs and that is what makes us all unique. It's often hard in the social media world to avoid getting caught up with all the controversy, division and polarization that happens. Honestly, it's hard sometimes to focus on the good when all the bad in the world becomes the focus. That's when logging off of social, being present with your family and friends, and figuring out what you can do that best serves you, your family and community becomes really important. And if watching the news makes your anxiety skyrocket - please know you are not alone!
But that doesn't mean I will turn a blind eye either and ignore what is happening all around us everyday. I don't believe ignorance is bliss. I believe knowledge is power. I like to go to my trusted sources for info, I love hearing both sides and then make decisions to help in ways that I can. Please remember just because you don't see this process from someone on social media doesn't mean it isn't happening. Finding the balance in contributing in ways that are helpful versus becoming overly consumed is challenging. Doing something is better than nothing no matter how big or small.
Also keep in mind…social media is a highlight reel. It will never capture the true grit of day to day life. If you want to know more of who I follow for info or are curious about how I've taken action over the years with various issues please feel free to message me and I'll be happy to share with you.
In the mean time I want you to know that I appreciate all of you, your support and this community we have created together. I'm sending you all big hugs, love and wishing you a healthy and happy summer! Congrats to all the graduates whether it's preschool, elementary school, high school or college. Let's celebrate the milestones, the accomplishments and appreciate waking up each day. Let's be present and ready for the world with continued optimism, trying our best to stay positive, moving forward instead of backwards. We owe this to our families, children and ourselves.
