It was another successful weekend for the Wisconsin RTC!
Seth Gross and Braxton Amos both won their World Team Trials brackets in Coralville, Iowa. By winning the trials, the wrestlers qualify to compete at Final X for the opportunity to represent the United States at the World Championships.
Gross, will travel to Final X in Stillwater, Oklahoma to compete on June 3rd. Awaiting Gross, will be 2021 World Team Member, Daton Fix.
Seth entered this weekend's tournament as the 5th seed. On his path to the finals, he knocked off the #4 seed in the quarter finals. In the semi-finals, Gross won by fall over #1 seed, Nico Megaludis. In the best of 3 final, it only took two matches to be crowned the 61kg Men's Freestyle Champion over Daniel DeShazer.
Braxton Amos was crowned the Senior Greco Roman Champion at 97kg. Amos, will now advance to Final X at the prestigous Madison Square Garden on June 8th. At Final X, he will battle against G'Angelo Hancock. Hancock was the 2020 Olympian and took bronze at the 2021 World Championships.
This was Amos's first time competing in Greco since taking bronze at the Junior World Championship in Ufa, Russia this last summer. He started off hot with an 8-0 technical fall in the quarter finals. He advanced to the finals with at 7-4 victory over Army's Lucas Sheridan. In the best of 3 finals, Braxton took the victory by 9-1 and 11-2, technical superiority victories!
