The Weekly Update

Good Morning Friends!

Well, we made it to the end of the week and the three day weekend is just a few hours away! School is out here in Las Vegas and summer has unofficially started here with triple digit temps! Thank goodness they have opened up all of the pools (there are 6) here in the condo complex I live in and one of the pools is just right outside my front door!! I will be spending some time there over the weekend for sure! I also don't have any real plans this weekend since I live in a tourist town. I usually stay close to home and away from tourist areas (like the  Strip and Fremont Street), but I may take a drive with Audriana up to Red Rock or maybe a trip to the dog park, just depends on how hot it is, but I think I will mostly be at the pool relaxing and just stay at home (which will include a glass or two of Pinot Grigio too), and while we are all enjoying the holiday weekend, let's not forget what this weekend is all about, honoring the men and women who have fallen while serving in the U.S. military. So, while you are out and about this weekend, please take a moment to remember all of our fallen soldiers who lost their lives while defending our country.

In other news, Bite Beauty is going out of business! They did not disclose what led to going out of business (possibly the pandemic, shipping issues). Bite Beauty now joins the other beauty brands that have closed their doors recently, however they will be keeping their Lip Labs open with new locations opening soon. A little good news along with the bad news of the closing of Bite Beauty.

Well, that's all I have for this week. I hope you all have a safe and great three day weekend and I will talk with you all next week! Now on to this week's update!

Here's What I Have Been Loving This Week:

Trader Joe's 0.3% Retinol Night Serum with Baobab Seed Oil ($9.99 for 1 oz.) – I have been using this retinol serum for a few weeks to a month now and I will say I didn't think this would do much for my skin, however this serum surprised me! The main ingredient is retinol of course, but there is also baobab seed oil, vitamin c, vitamin e, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid. I have been using this serum every night since I started using it and I have not experienced any dryness or dry patches. I use 2 pumps after cleansing my face (absorbs into my skin quickly with no residue) then apply my usual nighttime moisturizer, a few drops of Trader Joe's Organic Argan Oil and then I “slug” my face with a pea sized amount (give or take) of petroleum jelly. Although I have not seen any significant changes with my skin (when it comes to retinol or prescription tretinoin, it can up to a year to see real results), my skin does look a little brighter with a little less texture and my skin feels smoother too. I will repurchase this serum and continue to test it out to see how long it takes until I see noticeable changes with my skin.

Here's What I Have NOT Been Loving This Week:

Cleen Beauty Avocado Hemp Butter Sleep Mask (received this in a Walmart Beauty Box) - I have been using this sleep mask all week. This is supposed to give you hydrated and refreshed skin in the morning. I really did not notice anything wonderful with my skin in the mornings, so I will continue to use it, but will not repurchase.

Happy Memorial Day!

Good Morning Friends!

The "unofficial" start to summer kicks off this weekend which makes me happy, but at the same time it gets quite hot here, so I will not be spending as much time outside during the summer months as I normally do the rest of the year. But since this weekend is a three day weekend I am hoping mama can fit in a trip to the dog park in-between her pool and wine time, you know, like first thing in the morning before it really heats up. I mean the pool and wine will always be there, am I right? Yes I am! Anyway, since I do not have any blog content prepared for this week, I will leave you with this quote in honor of Memorial Day: “Paw to hand…United we stand.”

That's all I have for you this week, I hope you all have a fantastic holiday weekend and I will bark with you all next week and remember, adopt, don't shop!

This Week's Recipe
2 Ingredient Pineapple Cake

2 Ingredient Pineapple Cake

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! It’s the unofficial start to summer and if you are heading out on a picnic, barbecue or hanging out home with family and friends, this pineapple cake recipe is easy (only 2 ingredients) and bakes in half an hour! Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:
  • 1 Box Angel Food Cake Mix (any brand)
  • 1 20 oz. Can Crushed Pineapple (any brand, in its own juice, do not drain)
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the angel food cake mix and crushed pineapple. The mixture will froth and become airy and fluffy in the bowl.
  3. Once everything is all mixed up, pour into an ungreased 13 x 9 baking dish, and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. Cool completely before serving.
That’s it! In about 40 minutes you will have a delicious summertime dessert that will have everyone asking you for the recipe!

I am so grateful for each and every one of you! Without you all, Glam Budget Beauty would not exist, so thank you for being here and…
Until next week, have a happy, healthy and beautiful weekend!
