June 11th - June 17th
The Weekly Update

Good Morning Friends!

Happy Friday everyone! I can't believe that we are half way through the month of June and the 4th of July holiday weekend is a little over 2 weeks away! Before you know it, Labor Day weekend will be here and kids will be going back to school!

I don't know about you, but I feel like I should be taking a vacation somewhere, but I really don't have any travel plans this summer, but I would like to take a few day trips to visit 3 ghost towns near by, Nelson Ghost Town (45 minutes outside Las Vegas), Good Springs Ghost Town (40 minutes outside Las Vegas and Pioche (about 3 hours outside Las Vegas), but with the desert heat, I may have to wait until fall to go. Other than that, I will be staying close to home and I am okay with that!

In other news, I just read yesterday that Revlon, Inc. officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (or “reorganization” bankruptcy) on June 16, 2022. Revlon was founded in NYC in 1932 and has an estimated $3.7 billion in debt. I was surprised to read this! Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipsticks are my all time favorite lipsticks (I have quite a few in my makeup collection). I hope Revlon can come up with a plan to repay their debts while still operating and keeping product on store shelves. I would definitely hate to see Revlon end up like so many other cosmetic brands that have closed their doors permanently.

Well, that's all I have for you this week. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I will talk with you all next week! Now on to this week's update!

This Week's Favorites

Here's What I Have Been Loving This Week:

Dr. Teal's Calm & Serenity Foaming Bath ($4.87 for 34 oz.) – I bought this last Saturday and last Sunday (which for me is “self care" Sunday) I took a much needed hot bath with this foaming bath and it was wonderful! I emerged from the bath feeling totally relaxed and my skin felt so soft and hydrated. This foaming bath contains essential rose oil, milk protein and Epsom salt (just like the body lotion). The rose fragrance is slightly stronger than the body lotion, but like I said last week about the lotion, I love the scent of rose and this did not disappoint (if you are sensitive to fragrance or do not like the scent of rose, this will not be for you). I am looking forward to this Sunday so I can enjoy another hot bath with this foaming bath. If you are looking for a calming foaming bath and love the scent of rose, I highly recommend this (there are other Dr. Teal's foaming baths to choose from in different fragrances and purposes).

This Week's Failures

Here's What I Have NOT Been Loving This Week:

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Romantic Rose ($31 for 3.4 oz.) - This was my go-to setting spray back in the day and I loved it! But now, I am not as big of a fan as I used to be. There are so many other setting sprays on the market (both high-end and drugstore). When this is empty, I will not repurchase. Instead, I will be purchasing a couple my faves from the drugstore that are not only a lot less expensive, but work just as good or better than this one!

This Week's Recipe
Pineapple Sunshine Cake

Pineapple Sunshine Cake

This is a light and fluffy pineapple-infused cake, topped with a sweet and creamy whipped cream frosting. This cake is a sweet and delicious summer dessert (or any time of the year), and this cake is always a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients for the Cake:
  • 1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
  • 4 Eggs
  • ½ Cup Oil (I used ½ cup of unsweetened applesauce. Does the same thing as oil)
  • 1 8 oz. Can Crushed Pineapple With Juice (do not drain)
Ingredients for the Frosting:
  • 1 8 oz. Container Whipped Topping, Thawed
  • 1 Small Box Instant Vanilla Pudding
  • 1 8 oz. Can Crushed Pineapple With Juice (do not drain)
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and 1 can of crushed pineapple with the juice. Mix well.
  3. Pour into prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
  4. In a medium sized bowl, fold together whipped topping, box of vanilla pudding, and 1 can crushed pineapple with the juice. Spread over the top of cooled cake and enjoy! (Store leftover cake in the refrigerator)
*This is optional, but I reserve a small amount of pineapple from the can used for the frosting to sprinkle on top of the cake before serving*
