Hi friends,

My kids finished school nearly a week ago. Since then, my body would not cooperate with me. It just finds the nearest couch or bed at home and lies down anytime it feels like it. Whenever it hears the alarm ringing in the morning, it mocks the night self that set it and gets back to bed triumphantly. Whenever its eyes catch daylight slipping through the bedroom doorā€™s cracks while sleeping in the utterly dark bedroom, it ignores it to sleep some more.

I did not realize how tired I was until I did not have to drive kids to school every morning anymore. It felt like my body was rebelling against the ā€œhave toā€ part of waking up and waking up at the latest time possible that could still get me to work on time.

Yes, you are reading the right newsletter from the person who consistently advocates waking up early. Not a month ago, I went live to talk about how to go back to waking up early after Eid holiday, in case you forgot. Still, I, too, go through such phases, so I am sharing this to make you feel OK about it.

Not only this, but in the evenings, my body has been demanding naps. If I ever took them before, the funny thing about evening naps is that they did not last more than 15-25 minutes. These longer naps, however, caused heart palpitation in the first few days in fear of some schoolwork I had to oversee or a bedtime routine I had to start. A bit sad, I know. I responded by gently coaxing myself back to sleep, assuring my body I didnā€™t ā€œhave toā€ do anything.

I usually donā€™t purchase online courses, start projects, or set goals in July. I remember telling my accountability partner last year that I should start this in June, but I ignored my learned lesson thinking this year might be different. However, as Jon Acuff said in a course I attended recently, ā€œletā€™s not fight the cultural momentum; July is not January.ā€ Itā€™s OK to give our brain and body some rest in June and July, and whenever we feel signs that we need more rest. We need to start listening and trusting our bodies; they will reward us when we do.

Do you find it hard to rest sometimes, too? Let me know by replying to this email. I would love to hear from you.

As for me, I assure you Iā€™m doing much better now and totally embracing the sloth mode while it is here. I have fun family times coming up soon, as I suspect you do too, so the slothā€™s visit is definitely short.

But this week?

I will do more resting, napping, snoozing, and blissful sleeping.

I will also do some decluttering this week and I will explain the process I follow based on the book Decluttering at the Speed of Life tonight LIVE on instagram at 8:30PM Amman Time. Please join me or watch the replay and cheer me on like you always do.

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark āš”ļø a newsletter listing 5 inspiring things I thought were worth starting your week with:

  1. This post by one of my favorite daily blogs perfectly aligns with the Live session that I did last Sunday about daily habits to manage your home life. I hope you watched it, enjoyed it and commented on it too.
  2. The Kindle version of the newly-released book Be Your Future Self Now by Benjamin P. Hardy is on sale for 0.99$ instead of 12.99$, grab a copy while you can and read it instantly on the Kindle app, even if you don't have a Kindle device.
  3. Serendipity became one of my favorite words since I fell in love with the movie as a teenager a long time ago. Did you also like that movie? Here is an amazing (not related to the movie) article about Serendipity: How to be Lucky.
  4. Interested in documentaries? Check CuriosityStream which you can enjoy on many platforms, they are offering a special subscription price of 12$/year. Maybe it's a better option for kids during the summer vacation.
  5. This decluttering quote hit home:
ā€œLiving now means my kids can easily get dressed for school because the only things in their drawers and closets are clothes that fit. Not clothes they outgrew two years ago or clothes theyā€™ll grow into someday. Living now means open floor space so my sons can wrestle. It means I can walk to my bathroom in the middle of the night without stubbing a toe. It means my daughter has space to dance around in her room. I know these things are obvious, and I would have said they were obvious to me too. But I wasnā€™t living like they were obvious."
