Whether you worked with a designer on your website or not, there's a good chance that you've tweaked or DIY-ed at least one part of it.
After all, websites are living, breathing organisms.
They're never finished.
They're always in a state of flow, growth, and change.
And as such, it's important to feel empowered enough to do some designing or tweaking yourself, without feeling like you're going to ruin the whole damn thing.
(Psssst, this is why I design on ShowIt, because out of all the design platforms I've tried and designed on, ShowIt is the best for this.)
But above picking a platform (and a designer! 😉) that makes updating your site easy for you to do on your own, I wanted to focus this week's blog post on some things to keep in mind when you're making site tweaks.
And if you're a DIY-er, you're gonna wanna keep scrolling.
A Cool Resource I Finally Invested In
If you know me, you know I am a SUCKER for a cool as f*$@ font.
(Like, actually, I can't build a website without being in love with the fonts first, whether or not it was chosen by me or someone else.)
Buuuuuut, fonts can get pricey, and while I think it's worth it to splurge, not all clients need to spend upwards of $50 on a font alone.
Sooooooo…. I finally purchased Typewolf's Definitive Guide to Free Fonts, and I'm so upset I didn't do this sooner.
In the guide, he breaks down every single (expensive AF) font featured on Typewolf and it's closest free alternative. And for context, there's 1,000+ free fonts highlighted on there so far.
I've already found like 6 new free fonts I'm AS obsessed with as the ones that are hundreds of dollars. And I cannot wait to use them to level up my client work (and templates!!!) without making people spend an arm & a leg.
If you're a designer (or a website DIYer!) this guide is so worth it.
Until next week,
PS, I've been doing & scheduling so many website-in-a-days that I am going to build it out as one of my main services. I'M SO GLAD YA'LL ARE VIBING WITH IT! Keep your eyes peeled for the official service page on my site, but in the meantime, I'm now booking for September for all services: custom design & website in a day. If you'd like to work together on a website, let's chat!
