EARN AFTER READING

Did you hear the news, First name / babe?

The podcast I've been working on for the past 7 months was finally released into the world last week.

Ironically Serious Podcast is my new baby and creative endeavor.

I've been working in secrecy (minus close family and a few friends who knew about the project) since December of 2021. I spent the last 2 quarters of 2022 dreaming, scheming, researching, and making this thing happen.

Now that the podcast is out into the wild and all the vulnerability and transparency of my life is on display, there are a few key things I've learned in the process that I feel apply to so many aspects of entrepreneurship. I wanted to share with you my take in the hopes it may help you grow in your journey, at whatever stage you may be at.

3 THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM STARTING A PODCAST

1. Your personal brand matters.
I'm serious. It may sound redundant for some and foreign to others, but building a personal brand as an entrepreneur is extremely advantageous. It's the brand people associate with you. Not your services or what you sell, but who YOU are; your personality, how you talk, who you attract. A strong personal brand can do anything and most likely be successful at nearly anything they put out because their audience is loyal.

When you spend the time focusing on building a personal brand, you build trust. People come to like and know YOU. So whether it's a podcast, a clothing line, a new business, or God knows what endeavor, your following will be strong

I've been consistent about building my personal brand over the past 10 years (but really kicked it into gear the past 3 years), and I'm watching as people who have known 3-5 different versions of me are STILL following my projects. They're listening to my podcast, they're interacting with my content, they're just waiting to buy what I have to sell.

THAT is the power of a personal brand.

2. Spend the time to do things well.
Because I work in the online space, I'm constantly observing as people are launching products, and businesses, or extensions of their already existing offers. And most of the time, stuff is done well. I hate to say it, but every now and then, you watch as people release something and it's just sloppy. 🤭

Here's the thing: people notice when we pay attention to the details. When you spend the time to focus on creating an amazing product, it shows. I'm a perfectionist at heart (which is its own struggle at times), but with this podcast I wanted the production value to be A1! I spent the time to research, practice, get feedback, and ensure what I was putting out into the world was done well.

Instead of rushing something because you want to put it out (or you want to start making money off of it asap), consider how much bigger and better that thing could be if you focused more on HOW you were doing it vs WHEN you were doing it.

And lastly,

3. Set attainable goals.
This one may sound like a no-brainer, but time and time again I've watched creators and entrepreneurs release something that they couldn't maintain. If you create a vlog and commit to release 1 time per week, make sure that goal is attainable.

Why? Because consistency leads to wins. If you can stay consistent with your goal, you can always grow from there. But there's nothing more discouraging to yourself (and noticeable for you audience) when you say you're going to do one thing but can't keep up.

Challenge yourself, but also set goals that you know aren't outside your own limits.

Show yourself some love today, First name / babe.
you've earned it.

As always,
Taylor
