Grow
The official liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green - the color of the Holy Spirit and the color of life and growth.
Where do you need to grow right now? And what would help you do that?
Growth looks a bit different on everyone so I would encourage you to prayerfully consider those questions, seeking the Spirit's guidance. If you feel a bit stagnant with your current devotional or quiet time routine - perhaps pivot to a different discipline for a season. Consider trying…
- meditative silence
- lectio divina (devotional reading)
- using a prayer labyrinth or prayer beads
- breath prayer
- fixed-hour prayer
- praying the psalms or other pre-written prayers
- trying a new Bible study or reading a commentary on a favorite passage
- using the Book of Common Prayer's liturgies for morning or evening worship
May the Lord meet you in this growing season, helping you abide in him that you may bear the fruit of righteousness.
(P.S. - Adele Ahlberg Calhoun's Spiritual Disciplines Handbook is a fabulous resource for anyone looking for direction on the above listed disciplines and dozens of others besides!)
