July News
Our summer break gives us the opportunity to reflect on the year so far and to celebrate everyone's achievements on the Lakeland Trails - whether it's someone running their first 5k, their first trail run, or Katie Kaars-Sijpesteijn setting a new Ultra 100k course record - an incredible time of 11h27m23s.

Earlybird is open for next year's Ultra on 8th July and it's already 60% full!

It's always enjoyable to read of other amazing running achievements too and we're looking forward to local legend Ricky Lightfoot taking part in Lakeland Trails in Keswick, running on his home turf on 3rd September.

He recently became only the third person since the event started in 1980 to win the gruelling 22-mile ‘Man vs Horse' race in Wales.  Perhaps he should come and run at Cartmel too!

There are only a couple of weeks left to get your entry in for Keswick (5k, 10k & 15k) - it's going to be another great day on the Lakeland Trails!

Of course, our events wouldn't be possible without all of the hard work and enthusiasm from our amazing Crew and Volunteers.

One of our hardest working Crew members, Andy Letheren, decided to find out if it was tougher to run the Ultra 100k or be involved in running it.  What do you think his verdict was?

Why not read his feedback in the ‘Features' section on our website to find out?

Keswick 5k, 10k & 15k - Saturday 3rd September
Lakeland Trails in Keswick is the perfect return from our summer break.  The climb up the Glenderaterra Valley, through the deep bogs, is all runnable but you'll need to pace yourself and make sure you admire the stunning views of the fells with their carpet of heather.

The descent from Latrigg is fast and the sound of the amazing samba band Batala Lancaster in Fitz Park will spur you on to the finish!

Entry CLOSING SOON.

Cartmel 5k, 10k & 18k - Saturday 24th September
You can expect fast running on gently undulating trails at Cartmel, the home of the world-famous Sticky Toffee Pudding and many great restaurants.  Why not make a weekend of it?

Attracting many north-west club runners, there's always lots of jockeying for position in the 18k Race but the Challenge and shorter events are perfect for recreational runners and nordic walkers.

Helvellyn 5k, 10k & 15k - Saturday 15th October
One of our favourites with the imposing Helvellyn massif the stunning backdrop for the trails which will be lined with autumnal trees.  The variable weather only adds to the fun as do the amazing band, Boom Dang, who seem to play louder the more it rains!  Maybe this year we'll be lucky and have blue skies and sunshine!

Ullswater 10k & 14k - Sunday 16th October

Our 2022 Series' Finale and the second event of our Dirty Double weekend.

If the weather's good, you'll be treated to a complimentary half-hour cruise on Ullswater Steamers to Howtown for the stunning run back to Glenridding.  Our contingency course is equally lovely with amazing views across to Helvellyn and up the Patterdale Valley.

It's a tradition for people to dress up for our Series' Finale and we'll let you know the theme in good time so you can get creative!

News from inov-8
Summer is here! Wow, what a week we had here in the fells, with temperatures soaring and people flocking to the rivers and lakes. The trails, as you’d expect, were baked dry, ideal for fast running….. though there wasn’t too much of that in such sweltering conditions!

Here at our Staveley HQ, next door to The Forge brand store, team members were been steadily running up the trails to a body of water ideal for a lunchtime dip. Want to know where it is? Pop into The Forge and ask the team. You could also pick up an orienteering map while you’re there – one of the checkpoints on the course (pick from 2, 3, 4.5 or 6 hour courses) is right beside this beautiful body of water.

In other news, did you see we’ve launched our first-ever hike clothing range? It means we now have clothing ranges across three categories – running, hiking and gym. The hike clothing range takes inspiration from our run apparel collection and is all light and breathable. The tees and shorts are perfect for all types of hiking and multi-sport at this time of year – check them out here.

Our next Lakeland Trails event will, of course, be Keswick at the start of September. Our plans are well underway for the annual event on Fitz Park and we look forward to seeing you all there. We have team members running these trails regularly, so we’ll be able to give you some course condition updates closer to the event.

For now, enjoy the summer trails and run smart!
