Hi there, I'm Leah.
I'm a mountain grown, free spirited wild woman navigating this thing we call life with curiosity, compassion and the urge to push myself out of my comfort zone. Every week, I sit down at my computer to write my thoughts, process my feelings and share them here as a way to keep myself accountable. I hope the stories I tell bring you comfort, a new perspective and the craving for a grand adventure.

Finishing up my 29th lap around the sun
I keep a google note of lessons I’ve learned while circling the sun. Sometimes they’re quick thoughts, other times they’re smacks to the head. They can be silly and funny or they can make your heart ache and your spine tingle in that way that makes you know it's right. The lessons usually come to me slowly, which makes me question if I’ve learned anything in the last few months, then the list begins to grow as mother earth starts to come back to life in spring. Here is my list for 28 (I turn 29 tomorrow).

Maybe I shouldn’t look for someone who can keep up, but for someone who doesn’t hold me back.

Stop showing off at 1 am. That’s how you hurt yourself.

If I choose myself, it will all work out.

It’s easier to avoid temptation than resist it.

Have an orgasm, go for a run, or scare yourself every day. Full body tingles are an antidepressant. (I should clarify that when I say “scare yourself” I don’t mean allow your mind to spiral into a false story that subconsciously sends you into fight or flight. I mean like, huck yourself off a waterfall or try to do tricks on roller skates or something.)

No more fuck boys! (Final copy)

Your growth zone is different from your comfort zone (make space for both)

The best revenge is a life well lived

Stop saying you're old- there’s a 42yo with the ass of a 20yo who can hold a handstand for a minute. Never stop practicing yoga.

Cervical orgasms- all other orgasms will now be referred to as “little”

My purpose is to create what I needed when it didn’t exist

Make a plan to create space for play + joy every day (but especially when you’re sad)

Savor the moment

Yoga is a lifetime practice (be at peace with where you are)

Goddesses don’t drink poison (my last alcoholic drink was 5/15/22. This is six years, almost to the day, since the first time I quit drinking. The path to sobriety is not linear, nor is it perfect.)

My body is not a trash can (Thanks Em)

If you think you can heal without doing the hard work, you are missing the point.

Success isn’t a thing, it’s a feeling (remember that when you’re comparing yourself to others who “have more”)

“Never waste an inflection point in your life” (the worst thing ever to happen can be the best thing ever to happen, with the right perspective)

Moon Cycle

Last week I wrote to you that I began tracking my moon cycle in a more intentional way. This week, I sat down with my passion planner and I made an important connection; The same day I wrote “what the fuck is the point of life, the world is going to hell anyway” is the same day I entered into my luteal phase or PMS. This realization, combined with a super exciting Moon Flower collaboration, has me paying even more attention to this cycle. Is it possible that our body naturally flows through this soft, subtle, yet powerful lunar phase? I know there’s a ripped bro reading this thinking “what the fuck is she talking about?” and a woo woo lady thinking “It’s not just possible, it’s fucking happening!” I guess I’m somewhere in the middle. I invite you to join me in this exploration. In this new cycle, I will move with the energy flowing through my body, instead of fighting it, and I will share my experience here.
Dating

“Never waste an inflection point in your life” can also be applied to your dating life. I’ve gone on a lot of dates. In fact, it’s pretty much how I fed myself when I was 19. It’s also how I found out I don’t like Wiz Khalifa, Red Lobsters, football, bar managers, or going to the movies - unless your intention is to not speak. I spent my late teens and early 20’s figuring out exactly what I don’t like. I didn’t date to find the love of my life, and I put zero expectations of “the one” on a slim shady wannabe rapper, or any other person for that matter. I went on dates to connect with humans and make mental notes about what characteristics make me feel sparkly and what makes me feel icky. Now, I continue to go on lots of dates; with my partner, my friends & myself, and I’m really good at them. Wanna lay out a blanket and watch the sunset while we drink hot cocoa and discuss our ambitions? I am so down! If you’re dating new people and have a lame experience, think about what you learned and move forward. I promise it’s not the end of the world and you probably won’t remember their name in 10 years.
BossBabe
The Societe
I’ve been a huge fan of the BossBabe podcast for years and I joined their online mentoring program for female entrepreneurs in January 2021. This platform is so valuable that I have kept my membership, even with extremely limited internet. Once a week you get a live call for either mindset coaching, goal setting or questions answered by an industry expert. You get actionable steps to move you towards your goal by addressing purpose, audience and systems. You also get access to a library full of monthly masterclasses highlighting leadership, legal, marketing, sales and social media. This is a wealth of knowledge for someone like myself who is trying to navigate this business world without a business degree. If you are interested in joining yourself, click the link below and get ready to feel inspired.

Gourmet grilled cheese
The first trick to a gourmet grilled cheese is damn good bread. Go to a bakery and get something fresh. The second trick is a thin layer of mayo on the outsides of the bread slices. After that, you can put pretty much put anything in them and it’s delicious.

Alo Summer Flow challenge

Warrior flow - I was unmotivated and there was road work behind my cabin so this video is super short BUT still valuable, in my opinion. This is the practice I do most mornings, three warrior one sun salutations. That’s it! It takes about 5 minutes and if you do nothing else for the day, at least you did that. Usually, it motivates me to do more, but that’s how I like to start.

Twisted - Twisting involves so much core work, so we work with that in a few strengthening poses. I filmed this an hour before I usually wake up so I’m yawning throughout, but I was jazzed by the end!

Spinal - this mainly seated flow focuses on mobility and fluidity through finding length and space as we move from the root to the crown.

Holy shit you made it!

If you have any thoughts, questions, or suggestions, I would love for you to send me a message and start a conversation. :)

Cheers to the journey, I'm so grateful you're along for the ride.
Until next week,

Leah Staley
