Unlimited AC
Go with it. It's been a long, hot summer. Let them crank it up. Bask in it. Cool off. Whether they act like it or not - they're going to be really excited to sleep in a cold room!
Limit screen time
They've just gone without it and they've been fine!
We get it. They're going to be really wanting that phone or ipad. And that is ok. But know that they just went 2, 3, 4 ... even 7 weeks without and they SURVIVED. Remember that and try to incorporate some screen free time. But maybe, not yet :)
Remind them to make their beds
They've been doing it daily, and they are really good at it!
All summer long they made their beds. Without a fight. Just go with it. Maybe they'll even make yours. Just kidding. That is probably not going to happen!
Let them cheer at the table
One of our favorite parts about touring camps is seeing the Dining Halls in action. The cheers, the songs, the banging on tables - it is no joke, and it's a TON of fun. They'll probably try and teach you some of their cheers too.
Print out photos from camp so that their 'bunk' looks familiar
Remember printing photos of family and friends to hang up at camp? Now they'll need some of their camp friends at home! Print those pics you've been staring at all summer! See above for banner and album ideas and do this before they get home.
Finish that required summer reading
Sorry. They probably didn't get to it at camp. Or maybe they did? Wishful thinking!
Tie dye everyday
Nothing says camp quite like tie dye! Let them wear what they made at camp, and if you're in the market for something new, check out our fave Live & Let Dye.
A little canteen goes a long way
While they don't need it every night - candy, s'mores and treats will be greatly appreciated the week they get home. If you can't get their favorite camp cookies sent home (and trust us, we've tried!) - see above and order Baked in Color!
Give them S P A C E. Its not you... it's them
They just had the most independence they've ever had before. and now they are back living under your roof. There is an adjustment period (probably for you both!). Let them ease in slowly.
