BEAVER BITES

  • While Airbnb used to be cool, there's a reason we barely use it anymore. It's just as expensive as hotels! In fact, the average daily rate in July for a one-bedroom Airbnb in Toronto was $214 without the added fees. By the time the fees get added, it's basically on par with hotels, but without many of the perks. Nah!

  • Although our recent airport experiences in Canada have been good (and yes, that includes Toronto), we've certainly heard about all the headaches. Well, it may get worse for the airlines themselves as the government launches an investigation into the flight cancellations that have been making headlines. They want to know how airlines increased flight schedules to cash in on all the travel excitement without making sure there was enough staff to keep things running smoothly.

  • Speaking of flights, you can always avoid them by travelling by horse. That's what Canadian Cowboy Filipe Masetti Leite did, completing a 16,000-kilometre horseback journey from Calgary to Brazil back in 2014. Don't plan on bringing more than a carry-on though.

  • Fun story: While salmon fishing near the Klondike River in Canada’s Yukon Territory on August 16, 1896, George Carmack reportedly spotted nuggets of gold in a creek bed. His lucky discovery sparked the last great gold rush in the American West.

  • I think we're all sick and tired of viruses (pun intended) but here's everything you need to know about the current Monkeypox spread.
