Can we all just agree showing up online can feel exhausting? 🙃
The one thing we might not have thought about when we started our businesses online was just how often we'd have to show up to market it.
If you have a personal brand or you're a solopreneur, you understand.
There's a constant need to “show up" on your platforms, network, and the urgency to be “authentic.”
But what does that overused word actually mean… “authentic?”
According to the dictionary, authentic is to be genuine.
For me, being authentic isn't about showing up ensuring I'm different than anyone else. It's not about “trying” to stand out. It's about being true to me - in whatever that looks like.
Being authentic for me means being real, showing up in the sweatpants and glass of wine at 4pm ranting about how my kids are driving me crazy. Sharing my wins and failures. Sharing the parts of my life that are relatable.
Being authentic means allowing yourself to fully take part in the things that you enjoy and connect with others who enjoy those things too.
I know we can all agree we are sick and tired of seeing the same thing on social media; everyone saying the same thing, and doing the same thing, and selling the same thing.
What would your business look like if you stopped trying to keep up with the Joneses of the internet and just did YOU?
I bet you'd start attracting the right people for you, and I bet you could make tons of money doing it.
This is your permission to just show up - silly you, funny you, chill you, whatever YOU feels right. You can be true to you and still run a successful business, even if that true you doesn't match the status quo. 🖤
