So glad you’re here

I'm excited to journey with you!

I’m so grateful to have you in my inner circle. It will be fun connecting with you each month to share my latest news!

In this inaugural issue, I want to share my heart and bare my soul on my new journey as a Private Gemologist. Change is never easy…but when that change leads to reigniting the passion inside you…then you embrace it! I’m starting anew doing something I’ve done my entire career, but it’s fresh, interesting, exciting, and challenging all at the same time. It’s familiar yet completely different!

What hasn’t changed is my absolute love and passion for all things diamonds and jewelry and helping clients choose pieces which express their style and they love to wear! What has changed is how I do it. Bye Bye retail! Hello to a new way of doing the diamond and jewelry business which is much more intimate…more personal…and the level of my personal attention to each client creates exceptional jewelry experiences. It took many years to cultivate my trusted network and resources, and combined with all those years of experience, it gives my clients a smarter way of buying or selling jewelry.

What’s been a fun, but challenging learning curve is it’s a new age now…many things digital…and technology makes running a business so much more efficient. Yet it’s daunting at times because it doesn’t come naturally for me. Social media and word of mouth referrals are the prominent ways of attracting new clients. Because my network and customer base spans the entire US and beyond, so much is done on-line via zoom and email, but I still embrace every opportunity I can get to engage in-person.

I’m excited to share my journey with you as it unfolds. I’m loving it already and have met many great new people. Bottom line…I am such a free and independent spirit and I’ve always thrived when I’m running my own business. I love working for me…and I adore working for you! I’ve found the perfect way to do it!

I always appreciate your comments so tell me what you think about my newsletter, my website and anything else. I welcome any feedback or questions.  Just reach out to me to connect.

With so much love,

Kat

STORIES OF INTRIGUE

Elizabeth Taylor was arguably one of the world’s most beautiful women.  She was known not only for her beauty, but her passion for her art, her love of diamonds, her commitment to AIDS causes, and her tempestuous relationship with the equally notable Richard Burton. Their love story made many a tabloid headline for they couldn’t live with, and couldn’t live without each other. He showed his deep obsession for her by showering her with large and exquisite diamonds set in extraordinary jewelry pieces.

How legendary was she to have one of world’s most famous and epic diamonds named after her?

This is the story of that woman, that diamond – originally known as the Krupp Diamond – which came to be known as the “Burton-Taylor Diamond”. This diamond is 33.19 Carats in weight, D in color which is the highest color grade on the scale, and “potentially internally flawless”. Burton paid a high price of $305,000 in 1968 for this diamond, but after Elizabeth’s death in 2011, the ring sold for $8.8 million by Christie’s Auction House which aptly renamed the diamond “The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond”.  No doubt, the incredible increase in value was due not only to current market values at the time of sale, but more notably because of its history and former owner.

No one could wear it better than Elizabeth did!

On the horizon…
Jewelry designers have spoken…and we lovers of fine jewelry are listening!  Their newest designs for the upcoming holiday season have launched at international trade shows this summer.  The new trends are exciting!  Natural mined diamonds are leading the way…with lab grown diamond jewelry gaining in popularity since the price point is more affordable. Bigger look for the money. And they are, after all, still diamonds. Reach out to me if you’re intrigued by lab grown diamonds and want to know more.

Pearls are Unstoppable! It seems to be pearl pandemonium out there! This natural organic gem is featured in almost every jewelry designer’s lines. Even men are wearing pearl strands.  I’m seeing them on celebrities and athletes everywhere. And yellow gold is making a comeback – especially in solid gold jewelry like neck chains, bracelets, and hoop earrings. Time to bring out your yellow gold jewelry pieces and wear them again! You’re in style!

My ultimate advice is to always wear what you love. Trends are fun but choose timeless pieces you can see yourself wearing for many years. Down the road, you can always restyle it or trade it for something new when you no longer love the look.

Kat’s Wisdom Corner: Tips for a Healthy, Wealthy & Fun Life!
What’s Up With Investing in Gold and Silver?
I'm having the time of my life investing in precious metals. It’s fun collecting bullion – gold and silver coins and bars. I'm buying more silver than gold because the per ounce price is relatively low right now so I can buy lots for a little. I take possession of my metals because it’s so cool to hold them in hand. To be secure, I tuck them away in my safety deposit box to protect my investment.

I’ve done my research, listened to a lot of experts, and am banking on the price hiking up so to me it’s a sound investment. But since I’m not a financial adviser, don’t take my word for it, do your own research. I’ve found some really great bullion dealers, so if you want to know what I’m up to, just reach out and I can make some recommendations.
