“And the story isn't over, if the story isn't good. A failure's never
final when the Father’s in the room." - Cory Asbury
Our stories aren’t perfect though. We make mistakes - we scratch
out, scribble and try to rewrite things when we lose our way.
Sometimes our stories spiral completely out of control. We can’t
find our way back to the life we hoped would be ours.
As only the Father can, He takes a story that’s been scribbled & scarred, sometimes with whole pages torn out, and begins rewriting it, line by line, truth by truth.
This month, we are so excited to share the countless ways
God is Rewriting the Life Storiesof desperate women.
While back in the real world, she hit rock bottom and she realised that the life that lured her back, was certainly not the life she wanted! She cried out and the Lord heard her. She has rejoined our programme and she says it feels like coming home. She has come back with renewed gratefulness & focus and has plans to start studying soon. Even though she still has to face surgery & possibly chemo, she has a completely renewed hope & strength for the journey ahead.
Praise God, her story isn’t done yet! We cannot wait for the next chapter He has in store for her.
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will
carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 1:6
WRITTEN IN HIS BOOK
A while ago, a woman connected with us. She had experienced terrible hardships in her life from unfaithful partners, physical abuse, poverty, homelessness, abandonment & the loss of a child. Out of desperation, she began working in the industry to provide for herself & her children. Soon she was drawn into all that goes with trying to cope in that environment including substance abuse. Yet even in the midst of her pain & wanderings, God kept calling out to her and drawing her in.
A few months ago, she had reached the end of herself. After being abandoned & left destitute by another partner, she started working as a call girl again, but landed up falling pregnant in the process. While waiting at the abortion clinic, God convicted her & she left. She reached out to us again - this time ready to make a true change! And that’s where her story began anew… Today, she is in our Restoration Programme, attending in-depth counselling sessions & exploring ways to upskill herself, while taking care of her son & the little life growing inside her.
We are so grateful to God for His hand over her life and we know He is already
at work rewriting a beautiful ending to a story that could have ended tragically.
"Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were
written in your book before one of them came to be." - Psalm 139:16
CHERISHED BALLITO
Our Ballito Team found new venues to visit this past outreach, which means more precious lives touched. At 2 of the places, the ladies were totally taken aback when the team told them that they are seen, loved and valued. They started tearing up straight away when they were realised that they’re not alone and said they would love to connect.
CHERISHED MIDDELBURG
The Middelburg Team discovered there were a number of new ladies on the street, mainly from KZN. One lady they’d met previously couldn’t wait to see them again and was ecstatic when she did! She said that most of the brothels have closed down in Middelburg with only one operating in the area.
CHERISHED EAST RAND
The East Rand Team found that many of the venues were extremely busy and there seemed to be a spiritual heaviness and a lot of resistance. Although it was a difficult outreach, the team knew that the opposition they faced was a sure sign that they were bringing light into dark places and standing up against the enemy.
CHERISHED JHB NORTH
TheJHB Team took over 200 cupcakes in pretty pink boxes to venues across Johannesburg. The ladies were thrilled to see them and very receptive, including a number of new ladies who were overwhelmed that people would actually care enough to reach out to them. They were so grateful to be able to talk to us and felt accepted and loved. A highlight was being able to return to a venue that had been off limits for a long time and we pray for many more open doors such as this in order to touch many more lives.
“Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness;
they will sing with joy about your righteousness” - Psalm 145:7
