Hello.
I hope you've had an amazing summer, and that it rains (at night) and throws some sunshine across your garden in the last weeks of summer.

As well as some excellent idling, this has been a busy summer of getting one book ready to publish, another in the planning process, getting plants ready to go around now and writing recipes for The Guardian amongst others. More about all of that below.

A NEW BOOK
As you may know, I have a new book - SPICE/a cook's companion - published in a fortnight. I couldn't be happier with it.

It has:
more than130 recipes
over 50 spices
dozens of spice blends
16 recipes from contributors such as Honey & Co and José Pizarro

I'm selling signed hardback copies, and as part of an offer with HERB and SOUR. More below.

AT THE NURSERY
We've been busy at the nursery getting a whole array of delicious, aromatic mints, plenty of alliums including unusuals such as Babington's leek as well as garlic and onions to sow ahead of winter.

Fancy something a little different? We have:
three kinds of Japanese ginger
a really fine variety of Juneberry (aka saskatoon)
a special pink/purple elder for making pink champagne or cordial
2 litre plants of hot and spicy wasabi
Chilean guava - Queen Victoria's favourite fruit
an offer on the last few Szechuan pepper of the year

THE PLANT BASED PODCAST
I had a great time chatting with Michael and Ellen at the Plant Based Podcast a few weeks ago. We talked about all things planty, including embracing your garden's shortcomings and fermenting the harvest. Click to listen via Itunes, Spotify, and Google.
