Design by Sign: Volume III
Hello and happy autumn to you all! Isn't it crazy how the lazy summer months always seem to fly by so quickly? (Seriously, how is Thanksgiving nearly two weeks away?!) While the summer and early fall seasons may technically already be over, in this volume of our newsletter we will revisit them by exploring the interior design personalities of Sun signs Cancer, Leo, and Virgo.

Cancer
June 21 - July 22
The Mother of the Zodiac, Cancers are emotional and nurturing. They prefer serene, flowing, breezy spaces balanced by contrasting colors and materials. Soft blues, grays, and silvers common to the Water element are harmoniously balanced by fiery red, orange, and gold accents. While furniture is soft in both shape and material, think cotton and linen, accessories with sharp lines or jagged edges provide counterpoints that reflect the changeable moods of the Crab. Personal trinkets and treasures put on display speak to their strong sentimentality.

Leo
July 23 - August 22
The regal lion and King of the Zodiac, Leo, is ruled by the Sun. People born under this sign embrace attention and grandeur. They surround themselves with vibrant reds and oranges, gleaming gold accents, and ornate furnishings that put the ego on display. Leos have larger-than-life personalities that are attracted to strong lines and geometric shapes. These active creatures need spaces that feel open so that they can roam. Large windows with minimal treatments are ideal for letting the Sun shine in on them.

Virgo
August 23 - September 22
Virgo is the mutable Sun sign associated with The Harvest. Those born under this sign prefer orderly spaces grounded in organized simplicity and neutral, earthy tones. Never showy or ostentatious, they surround themselves with useful and practical furnishings. Storage is vital because rational Virgo needs to conceal clutter and create an environment of harmony and balance. Accessories are more likely to include elements that speak to their academic nature, such as books, globes, or chess boards, rather than purely decorative items. The easy care of cotton, wool, and leather balance comfort, style, and functionality.
