Hi everyone!

It’s September and school has started for everyone by now.  College Football has started and I find myself watching far too many games – already.

I’d like to do something different in the next few issues of the newsletter and I hope you’ll return every month to read the next “installment.”

A colleague and dear friend told me not too long ago that I should tell you more about myself – something I rarely do but I’m going to do just that.  He said OHT’s supporters deserve to know the woman behind the brand and what makes her “tick.” It may have very little to do with OHT, at least for a little while, but we’ll get there.  I hope you’ll be entertained along the way.

Let’s start at the beginning. I was born in New York City and moved to NH at an early age.  My father was transferred to New England and believe me, my Mother wasn’t any too happy.  You see, she lived in a very Italian neighborhood in the Bronx and couldn’t imagine being uprooted.  At the time she wondered where she was going to find good pizza, great bakeries, and meat cut thin enough for her Italian dishes?  Not in NH, she thought, and she was right.  My grandmother had to bring all the goodies from NY to NH.  We couldn’t wait to see her!

My father graduated from Fordham University, a rarity back then, and was there with the great Vince Lombardi.  He served in the Navy but was never deployed because he was the sole support of his mother and back then, they didn’t deploy those mothers’ sons.  So, in NY he stayed.

My father was a diehard Yankees fan – not too popular here in Red Sox country, but he never wavered.  He loved Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth and Roger Maris.  My mother loved the Brooklyn Dodgers, so you can imagine how divided the house was. (She also loved Frank Sinatra and skipped school a lot, she told us, to go see him at the Paramount Theater – for $.50.)

It was just my sister and me and it was ME my father taught the rules of baseball and football.  To this day, when my son in law asks my grandson who knows the most about sports in our family, he’s always amazed that it’s me.  Why not right? I guess that was the start of my love affair with sports – all kinds.  Never played one but I sure was a super fan and learned as much as I could.

Hooked?  Want to know more?  I’ll stop right here and in October I’ll tell you more about the oh so many opportunities I took advantage of or created for myself, during a time when women just weren’t doing what I was doing. AND being successful, no matter the challenges that led me to where I am today – The Founder/CEO/President of a multi-million-dollar brand – Operation Hat Trick, all during my retirement years.

Hope you’ll join us next month.  Tell your friends to sign up for the newsletter too.  Love to have them join the family.

All my best,

Dot
