Hi friend! Well, this week has been a wild ride, and we could not be any more grateful to be safe and dry. We had our first trip to New York City scheduled, just the three of us. It would have been Laurens's first flight and in true new mom fashion I had all the things planned and the travel stroller was ready to go, but at the last minute we canceled the trip and braced for Hurricane Ian. As a lifelong Floridian, you can never really know what to expect when it comes to these things, and looking at the radar it wasn't looking promising… so we stayed home and hurricane prepped. I made cookies, did alllll the laundry, and had an old-fashioned slumber party in our living room as we waited out the storm. As always, these storms are scary, but we are so grateful to be safe and that our house is in one piece. I was trying to come up with words to describe how we were feeling waking up on Thursday morning, when my friend Sarah posted a quote (by her friend) that I felt so beautifully wrapped up how we were also feeling: “ We have gratitude, but know that our relief is someone else's loss.” And wow, is that so true. So grateful, but the heaviest of hearts for our neighbors on the coast. If you are looking for a way to help, Feeding Florida is doing amazing things. But now that we have cleaned our yard of debris and the neighborhood roads are drained from flooding, we are going to bring the NYC fall weekend we had planned home! Crafting, baking, and sipping wine on the back porch are just a few things that are currently on my weekend bucket list… and thank you for keeping Florida in your hearts. xx Ashley Brooke |

03. recipe to make / apple tart (gf/df) My parents brought me a GIANT bag of apples from Blue Ridge, GA, so I've been making all the apple things! Last weekend I made this apple crisp, which was a hit… highly recommend. But now I can't stop thinking about this apple tart by Cookie & Kate, looks SO GOOD. |

04. recreate / coffee table styling series If you aren't following Steve Cordony on Instagram, get on it! His styling series are fantastic, and I love this one on coffee tables (rectangle here and circular here). I'm kind of over our coffee tabletop situation, so I need to switch up the books, vases, and candles while I still can. Soon I'll have little fingers all over everything, so I'm going to revel in the breakables right now! |
