On October 14th I gave a lecture at NC State College of Design!

The room was filled with first-year design students.

What a wild ride it was being the presenter in the same auditorium where I was a graduate student myself not too long ago!

I was vulnerable with the students and told them about how my car crash and traumatic brain injury forced me leave architecture and think creatively about my life.

I described how the aesthetic of my work is informed by visual disturbances resulting from my TBI, and how my acoustical art explorations are motivated by post-crash auditory overwhelm.

I walked the students through my work from my earliest design explorations to present, spoke about design thinking, and left them with some key take-aways and lessons learned.

I brought plenty of samples which they enjoyed studying after
my hour+ long presentation!

After my lecture, I was invited see their pinned-up designs and interact with them on a more personal level.

I'll be returning to campus in a few weeks to give a workshop about digital model making, and creating well-crafted paper models!
