Hi {{ subscriber.firstName | default('Friends') }}, Yeah yeah. I know. It's October. And I'm sharing a spring arrangement. I'm nothing if not a tad addicted to my flowers. For someone who has never been able to keep a plant alive, this is a big deal, and I'll be sharing my friend Aimee Daranutsa's tip on reviving wilted hydrangeas below. It REALLY works. September flew by, but I got some amazing names of characters from all of you. Rory. Chelsea. Chloe. Sevin. Emery. Quinn. Lulu LaTour! Oswaldo Diaz Gonzalez. Devaney. Colt. Story. Zoya. Finn. Lila. Gage. Magnus. Ezra. Lola. Stormy. Luke. Leia. Sienna. Buchanan. Piper. Brandt. Arden. I could go on. What great names! Thank you and congratulations to Linda Friedenthal who won the featured September NBC 6 in the Mix books courtesy of Book Bin Northbrook. This past Sunday, I had the absolute pleasure of speaking to the STRONG, SMART, and BOLD girls of Girls Inc. Any time I speak at organizations like this, I'm amazed at how it's the young women who teach us, not the other way around. In front of a packed house, these courageous beauties got up and spoke--poised as ever--and modeled on the catwalk. I don't think I could've done that at their age, and their confidence says a lot about the success of this program. What was your big fear as a child or adult? Have you been able to overcome it? I actually had a huge fear of public speaking. Literally wanted to vomit every single time I thought about it. For real. Sunday, I spent time with one of the young girls and told her some of my tricks--practice, imagining everyone in their underwear, repetition, having fun, not comparing yourself to others, etc. Telling someone to snap out of it only heightens the anxiety. It's okay to be afraid. I also won't go on roller coasters, skydive, or bungee jump. Hard NOs right there. Share your thoughts on the subject, and you'll be entered to win this month's giveaway, my three NBC book picks, courtesy of Blue Door Books. US only. One random winner picked 10/25/22. Happy Reading and Happy October! |

Fun feature and huge thanks… |

Where do I find all the great books I read? I'm fortunate to have a robust reading and writing community and grateful for every group, reviewer, and blogger out there, but I'd be remiss in not including these amazing women for their weekly (sometimes daily) texts and emails when I'm in need of the perfect book. If you're not following them, you should. Good Book Fairy Subscribe to her site for all the best recommendations. Elyse Walters Elyse is a top reviewer on Goodreads. Save the hydrangeas with HOT water? |
|
Skeptical, right? I was, too, but when my friend Aimee Daranutsa shared her hack, the proof was in the results. For wilted hydrangeas, cut the stems about an inch and drop into very hot water (close to boiling). You should see them come back to life in an hour or two. |

Haven't been watching much TV, but this was FABULOUS… |
|
Thank you to my forever friend Amy Siskind for the recommendation. |
