Since I travel the world full-time as a digital nomad, I have to get creative with how I showcase my artwork. I live out of a suitcase which isn’t exactly conducive to carrying around physical products with my artwork on them. 

 

 

When a company reaches out to me about licensing my artwork, I put together some mockups of my artwork on various products. This incentivizes brands to work with me because they are able to actually visualize what my artwork will look like on the products they sell in their stores.

 

These mockups often turn into physical versions of the mockup image, so I quite literally fake it til I make it when it comes to mocking up my artwork!

 

If you sell your art online, mockups are an incredible tool. Not only can they help you show your art to licensing partners, but they can also help incentivize your customers to purchase from you. People are more likely to purchase a product when they can envision how it will look in their home and mockups help you do just that!

This week’s challenge was inspired by the fabric mockup from my class, Design Top-Selling Product Mockups With Your Art. I use this image all the time to showcase fabric collections and play with how different patterns can work together. 

Most of my pattern collections contain a few simple geometric patterns to help balance out the collection as a whole. So your #CreateWithCatCoq challenge this week is to create a geometric repeat pattern! Bonus points if you design a collection and share them on the fabric mockup!
