Hello dear First name / one,
If you haven’t guessed by now, I am not someone who batches content. I probably never will be.
“Save time!” they say.
“Create a more consistent brand!” as if consistently hammering the earth would encourage it to bring forth more fruit. It’s taught as a standard now in self-marketing your business.

I don’t think of you, First name / darlin', or any of my readers as someone who needs to be “converted” or “hooked.” I love that you are a sovereign being, capable of building the world you’d like to see regardless of how I fit into that. I just love that we meet here, together.

What makes the Moonsletters so special to me is that they are created from the energy of the present moment. I do take notes in between, thoughts on events or what I’m observing. And, in recent years, I’ve honed my intuition to such specificity that I can often see ahead with great clarity about what energy or events may play out in relation to the moon and our transits. But when I sit down to write to you, 9 times out of 10 it is within 48 hours of the peak moon phase because I need to be present.

While there is certainly something to be said for forethought and planning, what we lose by consistently giving our attention away to some possible/probable future—or worse, to an unalterable past—is the pleasure of experiencing our own life. There are innumerable, real demands outside of ourselves and valuable lessons can be gained from reflecting on previous experiences. But what about the now? And the right now? And now this moment? The mundane is where we practice who we want to be, and it exposes who we really are. This is your life. It is all happening in the present.

Libra season was a real one. It shook out the metaphorical security blanket of our lives, scattering dusty old ideas we may not have known were still clinging to the fibers. Tonight’s moon heralds many small deaths, perhaps some big ones. When I speak of being present, I mean for all of it. The chaos, the surprise, the joy, and the grief, the loss, the sorrow.
How do you face uncertainty when it’s just you and the void?
We’ve rounded a corner, there’s no going back now.

Tonight’s New Moon in Scorpio will peak passing in front of the sun around 3:48 am PST. A new moon solar eclipse amplifies the energy of new beginnings, and in Scorpio this will be the bite of forbidden fruit that we can no longer deny ourselves. We have the knowledge, we have the power. There comes a point when you know yourself beyond compromise. You are fortified by your concretized inner truth. And by the same token, this foundation is just that: the beginning of a new season of you.

This moon is also conjunct Venus and Mercury, and Square Pluto. Pleasure and satisfaction are the driving force behind our emotional transformation right now. We are drawing meaning about ourselves from what we desire, identifying it as a part of our core personhood. We are also seeing our shadows very, VERY clearly. After the rodeo that was Libra season, we meet here at the edge of an open range, a wilderness we’ve known was out there, but never before dared to cross.

You know you’ve felt it coming.

At the onset of every great adventure, there is also a great surrender. A parting with those and that which cannot come along, strained by familiarity and attachment. The grief, this time, will cut deeply. This is no ordinary death. You have grieved before, you have made many little deaths over and over again, and rebirth came like a sunny morning each time. Here, we are not promised anything except the depth of the night, the experience of death. Allow yourself the richness of this transition, indulge in the romance of it. “The Passing of Time” is no longer an abstract concept and yet it is still completely undefinable. As long as you are present, you know exactly where you are.

FOR THE BODY

Scorpio rules the sex organs, the genitals, the anus, the pelvic bone and the pelvic floor.

â—¦

Connect with your pelvic floor through simple exercises like Kegels. Or try laying on your back on a comfortable mat, fleet flat on the floor, knees pointing up; exhale and draw the lower abdominals inward and upward like a zipper; squeeze the muscles around the urethra and hold for a count of 3 (if you can!); then release everything and inhale/exhale. Repeat three to five times.

â—¦

Many folks also suffer from extreme tension in the pelvic floor. From the same position on a comfortable mat, inhale deep into the low belly and imagine your groin and your legs are leaves unfurling in the sun. The pelvic floor relaxes on an inhale, and returns to its natural state or contraction on exhales. This is just the beginning and working with a pelvic floor specialist can be life-changing for folks with pelvic floor tension.

â—¦

Work with labradorite and yarrow to strengthen your boundaries, tourmaline and passionflower to stimulate your desire and open your heart.

â—¦

Add ginseng to your rotation of herbs and supplements to strengthen the immune system, aid in brain function, and reduce inflammation.

*I am not a doctor nor registered dietician. Please consult your PCP to make sure that any changes are correct for you and your body.

The veil is becoming thinner. Samhain and Halloween are right around the corner. Set your altars to your ancestors, open your palms to your guides. Your intuition will be exceptionally attuned this season. The sun and moon will be in Gate 28 for the new moon tomorrow. Gate 28 in healthy expression, intuitively and stubbornly listens to what risks are worth taking, what challenges impart meaning to our lives. As a gate in the Splenic Center, it harbors the fear that life will end before we know what makes it worth living. When the sun and moon eclipse in this gate, we are invited to embrace this fear with the knowledge that life is transitory. Always in motion, nature is never stagnant and therefore neither are we. Splenic energy requires you to be in the now.

I am not a creative machine. I want to speak to you about the present moment. I want to engage with everything that has led you up to this day and meet you at this turn. Which is why I’m finishing this from gate G1 at SFO, midway through a little journey down to Los Angeles. I am here and I am also here with you. In this moment of great grief and self-collection and incredibly sensitive awareness.

Does being present sometimes mean that we aren’t prepared? Sure.
But there are some things we will never be prepared for, and all we can be is present.
