Dear First name / friend,

This newsletter I will try to keep it short:) Few words before I start to write about this month's highlights: 17th Istanbul Bienal is taking place around the city in different venues. Some of them offer guided tours in English and are baby friendly. So you can visit with your little one. (I recommend a carrier rather then a stroller). I got to visit one of the exhibitions and looking forward to visit the rest. The weather is still nice. You can enjoy a beautiful Istanbul day, visiting an exhibition, enjoying the historical buildings and cafes.

Prenatal Sciences Global Congress
6-9 October 2022

This month was the Congress Month!
Prenatal Sciences Global Sciences is held online after so many months of hard work with 631 attendees from 47 different countries and 132 speakers. Although the congress had different themes for each day, the main theme of the congress was “PRENATAL SCIENCES, HUMAN-EARTH CONNECTION & LIFE SUSTAINABILITY!” Aside from the volunteer work in preparations, I took part as moderator/co-moderator during the congress sessions. Each day we had 15 hours of sessions which means there are lots of things to digest. To rethink about births, prenatal experiences, pregnant mother's holistic well being, different ways of raising children in different societies, epigenetics, world peace and the future of our planet. The congress got started with the amazing presentation of Thomas Verny, one of the pioneers of prenatal psychology, where he talked about the effect of maternal stress and epigenetics. I am looking forward to write a blog post about the congress so that I can share more with you. I would like to sum up with a quote from the opening session and photos from the congress.

"Unless we learn to reduce and eventually eliminate all chemical, physical and emotional toxins from the amniotic universe of babies, we will continue to raise children with serious potential to harm themselves and others…there can be no world peace without a peaceful pregnancy and a peaceful birth."
– Thomas Verny, Prenatal Sciences Global Congress, 2022

Theatre Play: “Gebe”
I went to see a play that took place in Basilica Cistern. It is played by 3 pregnant woman actress' in their week 37: Alayça Gidişoğlu, Özlem Öçalmaz, Tuba Karabey. The name of the play “Gebe” means pregnant in Turkish. The magical atmosphere of the venue made the play even more impressive. The play reveals the realities of pregnant women's emotions that are not being told out loud. It also touches on gender issues: women's role as a mother, as a daughter and as an individual. The play is only for limited staging since the actress' will give birth, but their actual project is to turn this play in to documentary. It will be available in many languages then!

Did you have times that you question people's approaches or words to you when you were pregnant First name / friend ? I would love to hear from your point of view.

Note: Basilica Cistern has been renovated and has beautiful lighting design. It is such a magical atmosphere and I highly recommend a visit. You can check out the website.

Did you know?
Babies during birth positions in a way that their faces look at the back side (anterior) of the mother so that the baby can get the mother’s fecal matters. This is a very important training for the babies’ immune system.

THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME INTO YOUR JOURNEy
