As the kids of Rhode Island started school this year, they went back with one thing missing…universal free lunch. Unfortunately, Congress ended the Universal Free Lunch Program at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. This program provided free lunch for every student, regardless of income status, and we were disappointed that Rhode Island leaders did not follow the lead of Massachusetts and four other states.

Instead, Rhode Island has reverted back to an income-based system, where students must qualify for free meals based off the poverty level.

We've been talking to principals and school nurses across the state, and have heard that some are missing the income requirements by PENNIES.

We knew what we had to do and are asking you to join us as we work across multiple communities to fill as many bellies as we can. Please consider making a donation today – you can make a BIG difference with as little as $10.

Every dollar makes a difference. And every dollar we receive is used to cover the costs of food, preparation, and delivery of balanced, nourishing meals to our neighbors who are unable to meet their basic food needs consistently.

Through the generous support of nearly 400 donors and the amazing teams at local, independently-owned restaurants, we have provided meals to 3,900 Rhode Islanders already. Together, we are making a difference!
