BEAVER BITES

  • Air Canada's Aeroplan program is about to get a bit better. They're now partnering with Emirates to open up access to new destinations and shared mileage rewards. We're hoping this gives us a chance to fly first-class with a shower at 40,000 feet for the second time.

  • If there's one award we hope to get in the future, it's the Order of Canada. More than 40 people will receive the honour this year, including Lisa LaFlamme and Cirque de Soleil co-founder Giles Ste-Croix.

  • As a way to get ahead of the winter travel surge, Toronto Pearson has unveiled a new plan to implement a reservation system for security screenings. If it works, it could be great. But we have our doubts.

  • We've never really considered Toronto as a place to go fishing, but a recent “big catch” in downtown Toronto is a big deal for the environment.

  • This floating-home-style shipping container might sound interesting, but local mayors and residents in Ontario's cottage country are worried about the environmental impacts.

  • WestJet has announced a three-month commitment to operating all flights, from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Calgary International Airport (YYC) with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) produced by Neste, the world's leading producer of renewable fuels. The SAF Destination program is the first of its kind in Canada, and hopefully a method for decreasing the environmental impact of flying.
