Hi First name / friend!

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be participating in Craft Friday with Spoonflower this year! What is Craft Friday, you ask?

It’s a day-long event of virtual creative workshops on November 25th and participating is completely free!

My workshop is a mini version of my Blooms & Shrooms class where you’ll learn how to draw trendy mushrooms and flowers in Procreate. And there are 15 other sessions including an art licensing workshop with Mable Tan and a watercolor holiday card workshop with Subhashini Narayanan.

Turn Black Friday into a day of creativity and come draw with me!

#CreateWithCatCoq - Mushrooms & Fall Foliage

In honor of my Blooms & Shrooms workshop, this week’s #CreateWithCatCoq challenge is to draw some mushrooms! But let’s give it an autumn twist. Draw your mushrooms surrounded by Fall foliage and flowers to give it a more seasonal vibe. Think mums, sunflowers, and autumn leaves!

If you want to learn to draw this motif in a fun and hands-on class, join me in my class, Blooms & Shrooms: Draw Fun and Funky Art in Procreate. This is one of my most in-depth Procreate classes yet.

You’ll not only learn how to draw a mushroom motif, but you’ll learn how to navigate Procreate, tips for creating artwork that will sell well, ways to explore different color palettes in Procreate, and much more!

Holiday Gift Guide
Now that we’re officially entering holiday season, I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite Society6 products each week! Society6 is fabulous for gift-giving. With thousands of designs, color palettes, and products available in my Society6 shop you’re sure to find something for everyone on your list!

This week, I’m featuring my 8-Bit Ikat Pattern – 60s Palette Duffle Bag. It’s always a special treat when I get to see my artwork off the screen and on an actual product! In this case, it’s my “8-Bit Ikat ~ 60s Palette” design I whipped up in Adobe Illustrator a few months ago. Now, it’s printed on my very own Society6 duffel bag! I ordered the duffel to myself here in Thailand and I’m thrilled with the high quality both in terms of printing and durability.

My goal with this design was to reinterpret the traditional Indonesian fabric-dying method of “ikat” and reimagine it as blocky digital shapes. That way, when you see it close up, you get all those crisp jagged edges that are a nod to old-school 8-bit computing graphics. 🤓 It was an interesting challenge to blend a traditional fabric-dying technique into the digital illustration age. Loving this aesthetic mashup of old + new. 🧡💛🤎
