Hi First name / love,

Scorpio season and holiday season are upon us. 🦂 🎁 How are you feeling? Bright, alive, quiet, contemplative, sad?

If your life is anything like mine, you might be struggling to hold space for a wide range of emotions. Lately, I can go from overjoyed & in awe to curled-up crying on the couch in the span of an hour.

When that happens, I try to return to my list of 100 Ways to Take a Break. They help me remember and access the sacred pause. I share them with love and a big permission slip to take care of yourself however you need in these tender times.

Pause-taking and permission-granting completed, the rest of today's email goes out to my self-employed babes on this list. If you're a freelancer, creative, or small business owner, please keep reading! (And if not, you're totally welcome to read on but this may be less interesting for you.)

Many of you know that in summer 2021 I quit my job and launched Softer Sounds, a feminist podcast studio for entrepreneurs & creatives.

Since then, I've been soft at work supporting amazing shows like Balanced Black Girl, Needy, Belonging, home–body, Retail for the Rest of Us, The Twelfth House, Looks Like Work, Momsanity, Opsy, Brave & Well, More Than Just… and more.

Somewhere in there I've also been supporting myself – financially, emotionally & otherwise. And if I'm being honest, it's been challenging, inspiring, overwhelming, amazing, and mostly…pretty lonely.

To cure the loneliness, I joined a dozen online business communities to make friends and find folks who get it. I've raved about some of those communities to you before. And I appreciate them! But at the end of the day…none of them were quite the connections I craved.

You see, I've been craving a community of small business owners—

Who are mission-driven and values-motivated.

Who support themselves (and sometimes others) with their work.

Who have big dreams but know that goodness lies in the small things.

Who are growing profitable, powerful companies that reject business-as-usual.

Who are open & honest about how awesome and awful that experience can be.

I was telling my dear friend & collaborator Taylor Elyse Morrison about these community dreams, and she confided in me that she was craving the exact same thing. 💡

So as will surprise no one who knows us…we've decided to create that community!

The Lifestyle Business League is a support network for lifestyle business owners like us. It's community, programming & perks for small business babes who want more for themselves, their people, and the planet.

We're soft launching later this month, and we'd love to have you join us. To be the first to know (and get exclusive access to our lowest ever price of just over $100 for a whole year), click here or the button below to make sure you're on the list. ♡

Thank you for being here, First name / friend. That's it for today, but I'll be back in your inbox in a few weeks with a special gift guide to wrap up the year. 🎁

Until then, I send you all the presence of the sacred pause and this wealth of ideas for how to take a break.
xoxo, Amelia
