So grateful for these experiences in 2022!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, it's all about the meal, family togetherness and gratitude. Our family gathers around the table and shares what they are thankful for or what has been particularly meaningful to them over the past year. In that same spirit I wanted to highlight travel experiences of 2022 that I am truly thankful for!
The place that captured my heart
Perhaps the most charming place that I visited in 2022 was Kotor, Montenegro. I absolutely fell in love with this town set on the secluded part of the Bay of Kotor.  If you like stunning scenery and Medieval towns this is the place for you.

A memorable first in the Ionian Sea
I am a true water lover and was delighted to have my first dip in the Ionian Sea in stunning Monemvasia, Greece. The beach was rocky with smooth tumbled stones and the water was surprisingly salty.  All in all, it was pretty fabulous!
A special family moment in Heidelberg, Germany
Being able to have a pint with my husband in his father’s favorite watering hole when he was stationed there 60+ years ago was pretty cool.  Being able to share the pictures with him was priceless!  For the record he says it looks just the same.

An unforgettable visit to the Anne Frank museum in Amsterdam
Stepping behind the bookcase to the secret annex where the Frank family was hidden for two years during WWII is difficult to describe, nonetheless, highly recommended. Photographs are not allowed inside but you will not forget the feelings that emerge when walking these rooms.
autentico e delizioso
In Brindisi, Italy (close to the heel of the boot) I visited a local Cesarine’s home and learned how to make Strascinati, a traditional Puglian pasta, in addition to antipasto and Tiramisu. This experience was as fun as it was delicious.
Utterly mesmerized by this unfinished masterpiece in Barcelona
I love the architecture of churches, cathedrals and basilicas.  Hands down, my favorite to date is La Sagrada Familia.  Gaudi’s masterpiece is simply breathtaking and the largest unfinished catholic church in the world.  See it in person as pictures do not do it justice.
Sharing apertivo with friends in Como, Italy

I am not Italian, but I love the tradition of Apertivo.  Meant to open one’s palate prior to the evening meal the practice of having nibbles with pre-dinner cocktails speaks to my appetizer-loving heart.  This year I was fortunate to have friends with me on some of my travels which makes everything better.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my 2022 highlights. More importantly, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! As always, I'm so grateful for your support and love having this opportunity to serve you in the inbox.

All the best,
Sam
PS: I had to throw in a favorite experience from 2021!
Meet Holly: the best, cutest and sweetest truffle hunter I ever met! She was the true highlight of my 2021 Rhone river cruise in France!
