Ratchet straps or cement blocks are a good way to ensure your hives are secure during inclement weather.
The temperatures have started to drop here in middle Georgia. We have been treating and feeding our bees over the last month to ensure they are as strong as possible going into the winter month. Installing white boards underneath helps to provide alittle more insulation. You may also consider condensing the hives down so the bees have a small space and are closer to the resources. All that being said, we still experience hive loss. Unfortunately, this is a part of beekeeping. We try to view it as an opportunity to keep learning, keep asking questions, and exploring. Beekeeping clubs and courses are an excellent resource!

— Reynolds Media Visit to BeeCo Apiaries —
Last week, we had the opportunity to host a group of travel writers visiting Reynolds Lake Oconee. It was too cold to get into the hives, so instead we spent time together taking about the endless topic of beekeeping! We looked at an observation hive, beekeeping equipment, and of course, sampled some honey. Special thanks to Chef Bellout Zouhair, Executive Chef at Reynolds Lake Oconee, for making this happen!
