Have you ever competed with a child over who loved something or someone more?
“I love you this much!”
"Well, I love you THIS much!”
“Well, I love you times infinity!”
“I love you times infinitytimes a thousandtimes forever!!”
This is how we’re invited to step into Sagittarius season. Times infinity. Times forever. Just how wide can you stretch your arms? How far can you stretch your imagination and embrace the possibility that there is more. Commit to the pursuit, not the thing. Things change. Pursuits are change, and change is our constant.
Eclipse season brought with it dramatic unveilings. We've let so much go, we are learning to let go. There is a great, wide future ahead of us and as we walk sea-legged out into a new landscape, nothing is promised. And yet anything could happen.
As the tides of grief from Scorpio season subside*, we are reminded that Sorrow and Joy are bedfellows. Just like shadows exist with light, so too does our loss beget something found. The road ends at a vast expanse. We laugh until we cry until we laugh again. This is the beauty of the cosmic joke, isn’t it? That each time we think it’s the end, we find ourselves at a new beginning. If there was ever a time to laugh, Sagittarius season would be it.
A New Moon in Sagittarius brings a fresh, optimistic perspective to the table. And we are well-primed to shift our focus out to the horizon. Sagittarius energy, ruled by expansive and fortunate Jupiter, is about THE PURSUIT; curiosity, aspiration, the journey. You may feel compelled to learn something new, set higher goals, or plan a trip. Sagittarius loves to see just how big the dream can get. Times a thousand? Times infinity?
Tomorrow’s new moon will also be snuggling up with Mercury and Venus in Sagittarius, lending a bubbly and abundant tone to our communication, personal relationships, finances and intellect. Our feathers are less prone to ruffling when challenges or conflicts do arise. I don’t know about you, but since Mercury moved into Sagittarius last Thursday, I have found myself giggling at almost everything. Let us remember in each interaction that we are all children at heart; seeking community, deserving of respect, and still learning. With Venus in Sagittarius, we are reminded that love is not always romantic. It is the intimacy between friends and the solidarity between coworkers. Love does not subscribe to arbitrary boundaries like state lines or genders. Love is at the bottom of Sorrow, it is the purveyor of Joy. And love actually is all around.
Alright, I’ve used up my one cheesy token for the season. Any excuse for Bill Nighy. Also, if you love-hate this movie, do yourself the favor of reading Lindy West's absolutely scathing post😏
If you’ve been waiting to call in something new, you could find yourself feeling organized and willing to put in the work due to Mars trine Saturn. A new moon is prime time for manifesting if that’s your practice, and excellent for starting new projects or setting new goals. You don't have to accomplish them today or tomorrow, but set them. Start the project. Open the door.
Mars is still retrograde, so it may serve you to revisit something that you've tried before. And, with Mars square Neptune you could have the best of intentions but feeling a little creatively watered down, or like it’s just out fo your reach. Remember to honor your rest cycles as you need them. It is hibernating season after all.
FOR THE BODY
Sagittarius rules the lumbar region of the spine, the sacrum, hips, thighs and glutes.
◦
It's very easy to get sedentary during the winter months, so keep up those “silly little walks" for mindbody regulation. And follow up with some gentle hip-opening stretches. ◦
Figure Four Stretch: Start by laying on a comfortable mat, feet flat on the floor. Inhale, cross right ankle over left knee; and on an exhale, gently guide the left thigh/knee back into your chest. You should feel this stretch on the right side where your hamstring attaches to the glute, as well as deep in the hip.
◦
When is the last time you were on a trampoline? Sure, squats are great, but wouldn't it be waaaay more fun to bounce around for a bit and improve your balance all around?
◦
Dandelion, willow and calendula all make wonderful additions to your tea for this season, but have you tried adding sage fried in brown butter to your dishes, yet? I'm going to tell you to do this every New Moon in Sag because omg it's a game-changer.

Work with and wear amber, red jasper, and turquoise to ground the body and connect with the individuality if your spirit.
*I am not a doctor nor registered dietician. Please consult your PCP to make sure that any changes are correct for you and your body.
If you're experiencing hip or low back pain, often the culprit is weakness or hypertonicity in the glutes, or lower abdominals. Alternatively, there can be restrictions in the tissue of the spine or hips that limit the flow of craniosacral fluid which nourishes the spinal cord and nervous system. CranioSacral Therapy is a hands-on treatment that uses light, targeted touch to facilitate the release of these restrictions and allow the body to self-correct, thereby creating longer lasting results. When the New Moon reaches its peak, the Sun and Moon will be in Gate 34—The Gate of Power, Power of the Great. Gate 34 is about personal power and it fuels individual creative ability. Many Manifesting Generators are endowed with this gate defined directly to the Throat, the center of communication and manifestation. In its best expression, Gate 34 can DO anything (many things) and sustain the energy for as much time as needed to complete the task. This energy can propel you forward on a project. You may feel pretty self-sufficient for the day or busy as all hell. It serves us to remember though, that this power is not intended as competitive or authoritative and it is generated from response, not manifested.
If you have an undefined Sacral Center, the transit through this Gate might have you feeling pretty damn confident. It's great for the initial launch into an endeavor, but be wise that this energy is not going to be consistent. Use it to set yourself up for ease the rest of the week. Explore where else you might draw your personal power from.
*I want to make a note here that grief is not an illness to get over. It is a color that variably saturates our lives, and our collective energy. By no means do I personally think that we can “get over” tragedy. And besides STILL navigating a global pandemic, new wars and old grudges continue to wreak havoc on the very real lives of folks across the globe. When we talk about navigating these big feelings, our work, when we are ready (and no one but yourself can tell you when you are ready), is to allow the grief to be a part of the experience. Allowing grief to move through the body, inform the heart, motivate compassion, and make visible the “through-ribbons” that give meaning to sometimes inexplicable things.
Grief is something I talk about often with clients. And if you are ever struggling, or curious, or want to engage in this dialogue, please know that I am here on the other end of the Reply button.
