Our knitting
Is the length of a motorway
the distance
from a landed plane
to its long haul destination
the journey that the light makes
in the morning                from the sun.

We’ve been knitting       for a long time.
We didn’t notice

when our tension lessened
not at first                    but then –
our needles

kept on missing.

We were knitting
but we kept on
dropping
off each other’s stitches

we couldn’t feel each other’s fingers
moving in the dark.

It happened gradually
loop by purl
slip by start
but kept on
until the last

till our knitting lay undone

and all our wool

lay dense

between us.

Dear yarnbirds, 

I may have committed a poetry faux pas. I'm not sure if the poem above is supposed to be center justified or not, but it looks right somehow, there in the center position on the screen, so I'm going to leave it and not left justify! The darlings at Dream in Color have created three new colorways especially for Small Business Saturday, that lend themselves to assigned pooling. What is assigned pooling? Designer Dawn Barker is the champion of assigned pooling patterns that have captured the knitting world's imagination. She describes assigned pooling in the following way, “Assigned Pooling occurs when a change in stitch and texture is assigned to changes in color within a skein of variegated yarn.” In this case, simple Stockinette Stitch is assigned to the main color to create a backdrop for the cluster stitch assigned to the accent color. We will have a limited number of these gorgeous skeins available on Small Business Saturday. We're open from 10am - 3pm on Saturday. 

Lisa K. Ross (Paper Daisy Creations) has designed a fabulous new shawl in 2 skeins of Emma's Practically Perfect Sock and 6 different Practically Perfect Smalls! It's simple and stylish with fun pops of color and eyelet details. The pattern is now available on Ravelry as well as Lisa's site!
