A note from Emily & David
Our word for this week is “Festive”... we love the hint of celebration that fills these chapters.  The Lord promises a day of great blessings ahead, a time when children will play in the streets.  These books speak of restoration and rebuilding.  The warnings are followed by words of great hope.  We loved the pattern of holiness found in these books.  This week in Come, Follow Me we will be studying Haggai and Zechariah.

Here is what you have to look forward to:

Consider Your Ways
Rebuild and Restore
Becoming Holy

Promises to covenant
Israel from this week:
Haggai; Zechariah

I am with you
My spirit remaineth among you
I will fill this house with glory
In this place will I give peace
From this day will I bless you
I have chosen you
I will comfort Zion
I will rebuild, restore and gather
They shall be my people
The streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets
I will save you
I will render double unto thee

Teaching tips for kids
Look up a whole bunch of temple pictures.  Have each of your kids choose a favorite temple from anywhere in the world and explain why it is their favorite.

Teaching tips for teens
The prophet Haggai begins his book by asking the people to “consider their ways” as they prepared for an opportunity to start attending the temple again.  How is that similar to our day?  Read the temple recommend questions found in the back of the strength of youth pamphlet.  How might those questions help you to consider your ways?

IF you have YSA in your home, you might want to read David A Bednar’s talk from the most recent general conference.  How would his talk help you consider your ways?

Zechariah chapter 4 talks about the two candlesticks that are mentioned in Revelation 11:4.  We often talk about these two prophets in relation to the Last Days without considering important lessons we learn about them from Zechariah.  How might Zechariah 3 & 4 help you understand Revelation 11 a little bit better?  Consider how the role of Joshua was to Gather and the role of Zerubbabel was to restore the temple.  Gathering and Restoration are words that are also familiar to us today.  How do those two words expand your understanding?

Don't Miss This in the New Testament
Preorders for 2023 Come Follow Me
Maybe you know this about us by now, but we are both visual, hands on learners.  Because of that, we are always trying to discover study tools that will help bring the scriptures to life in your home.  We will be using several different study tools this year, here is what we love most about each of them:

Videos:
For the New Testament we will be recording all new hour long vides, but this year they will be broken into ten minute segments in case you want to watch them for ten minutes every weekday, or you can watch them all at once.  These videos are totally free and can be found on YouTube or on our APP.

Journal:
The journals for the next four years have been totally redesigned with a theme in mind.  You will find questions to ponder daily that can be used for teaching or family discussions.  There are workbook pages based off of our most favorite part of each lesson that week.  You can also use these workbook pages for lessons or discussion.  There will also be a space for recording one name of Jesus Christ each week.

Devotional Book:
Perfect for a 5-10 minute lesson, these books can be used as a devotional every day.  This book is designed for personal study or family study.  We love to use ours around the dinner or breakfast table.

Word a Week Posters:
Perfect for a three minute study, these posters include one word and one verse a week for pondering.  Hang them somewhere in your home where they will be a daily reminder of Come, Follow Me.  This year we will be studying one name of Jesus Christ found in that week’s lesson.  By the end of the year we will have come up with 52 names.

Tip Ins:
These are small papers that can be glued right in your scriptures with tips and truths that will help to improve your study.

Stickers:
Use these colorful stickers in the margins of your Scriptures or in your Don’t Miss This Daily study journal.

Hopefully these tools will make your scripture study something you look forward to!
