No matter what your opinion on Ms. Smith is, she's not wrong in her statement. So often (and not just at the holidays!), we push our own health and our own needs down to finish one more project, help one more person out, buy that next present, clean the house.Sadly, the last thing we "take care of" is our own body (both mentally & physically). This is, of course, until it declares it has had enough and we almost quite literally "crash".
I don't know if you know that feeling, but my body does. Which is why I have to honor it more (just like I lecture you guys!). Not count it as a failure, when I need to rest. Or set aside those minutes for mobility work. Or, when I take time to stretch and decompress.
And more importantly,
NOT feel guilty about it.
So, that is your reminder. We all talk about Self-Care Sunday or taking a moment out. So, this is your reminder that it's o.k. to do that. And not just once a month, but daily, weekly, as often as you need. Because your body needs to know it is cared for today.
But, because it is holiday season, and whether you are planning for 2 or 20, there usually involves some type of cleaning. So, enjoy this month's videos of "Proper Holiday (and Year Round) Cleaning Techniques to Avoid Back/Neck/Shoulder Pain".

P.S. It may seem like a random present, but the "gift of health" is never a bad idea. Especially for that special someone (this includes you!) who might been putting off getting an injury addressed or dealing with an ailment.
As the New Year approaches, everyone starts to set and think about fitness goals, and it's hard to go into that mentality battling previous injuries or maybe not even sure where you want to start.
People don't usually think about Physical Therapy as a "gift", but a personalized appointment to talk about you and your health is something that is can't be valued enough.
