Teaching tips for kids
Here are two ways to teach this lesson:

Gather the 12 symbols from all around your house.  You can purchase the ones you don’t have, or print out pictures to go with each of the symbols.  You might consider attaching the scripture reference onto each of the symbols.  Then pass one or two out to each person who will be learning the lesson with you.  Have them read them out loud and then discuss each one.

In our families, we are going to imagine as if a little shepherd boy is learning about these prophecies from his father.  We are going to talk about what it might have been like to imagine the birth of the Savior before it ever happened.  What would you have been watching for?

If your family loves to read a Christmas story every Christmas, you might consider “More Than Just a Star.”  It is the story of a little shepherd boy named Micah, who collects all the symbols in a small shepherd bag and waits for the long awaited day.  If you choose this option, you will still want to print out all of the scriptures and symbols to use as you go through the book.

This idea will work for families, youth groups, or Sunday School classes.

If you want to keep a fully filled out Old Testament timeline in the back of your scriptures, print out this PDF and cut it to fit the height of your scriptures.  Glue the left hand margin into your binding and then fold the paper in half so that it all fits inside.

Don't Miss This in the New Testament
Preorders for 2023 Come Follow Me
Maybe you know this about us by now, but we are both visual, hands on learners.  Because of that, we are always trying to discover study tools that will help bring the scriptures to life in your home.  We will be using several different study tools this year, here is what we love most about each of them:

Videos:
For the New Testament we will be recording all new hour long vides, but this year they will be broken into ten minute segments in case you want to watch them for ten minutes every weekday, or you can watch them all at once.  These videos are totally free and can be found on YouTube or on our APP.

Journal:
The journals for the next four years have been totally redesigned with a theme in mind.  You will find questions to ponder daily that can be used for teaching or family discussions.  There are workbook pages based off of our most favorite part of each lesson that week.  You can also use these workbook pages for lessons or discussion.  There will also be a space for recording one name of Jesus Christ each week.

Devotional Book:
Perfect for a 5-10 minute lesson, these books can be used as a devotional every day.  This book is designed for personal study or family study.  We love to use ours around the dinner or breakfast table.

Word a Week Posters:
Perfect for a three minute study, these posters include one word and one verse a week for pondering.  Hang them somewhere in your home where they will be a daily reminder of Come, Follow Me.  This year we will be studying one name of Jesus Christ found in that week’s lesson.  By the end of the year we will have come up with 52 names.

Tip Ins:
These are small papers that can be glued right in your scriptures with tips and truths that will help to improve your study.

Stickers:
Use these colorful stickers in the margins of your Scriptures or in your Don’t Miss This Daily study journal.

Hopefully these tools will make your scripture study something you look forward to!
