Hello dear First name / one,
In the deepest dark, time seems to extend. When our fingers cannot find the edge, the experience of being blind takes on the same sense of infinity as the space itself. Darkness itself holds a stillness, a ubiquitousness like water—an element in all forms. In the Northern Hemisphere, we are in the season of the deepest dark.

Darkness can be fearsome or consolatory; both shadow and shade. When we are “in the dark,” we cannot be sure. Darkness requires that we exercise trust in our inner senses and move/speak/act cautiously. This caution slows our process so that each moment can hold more meaning. It is also in the dark that our senses become louder, stronger. Even sight can adjust and strengthen in the dark—rhodopsin, the most prevalent protein in your retinas can only regenerate in darkness 😉.

Yesterday the sun moved into the sign of Capricorn just after it set beneath the horizon, beginning the longest, darkest night of the year. Capricorn season is one of contraction, of  a certain pressure requisite for transformation, for combustion. It is itself the candle in the darkness. Capricorn energy is the focused creativity that when put under a little pressure becomes a spark. This season can be illuminating, a beacon of hope or security amidst a dark sea of unknowns. It burns steadily, marking time. A candle is not a searchlight and it is not a bonfire. It is soft and intimate, unobtrusive and undeniable in its simplicity and contrast.

Tomorrow morning’s New Moon in Capricorn, peaking at 2:17am PDT, is a firm and quiet appeal to reject self-doubt. With the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury and Pluto all in Capricorn, there’s a big sense of refreshment, as if we’ve emotionally tilled the soil and made our fields ready to lay fallow until spring. As we start this new cycle, the Moon is square Jupiter in initiatory Aries, which can create an emotional need for purpose. This pressure could be enough to inspire your creative planning. But remember, you’re still in the dark. You don’t have to make grand moves, or any at all. We’re long overdue for a collective redefinition of “productivity,” but it starts individually. What you “should” do is actually none of your concern. “Should” is someone else’s standard, someone else’s expectation.

On that note, let’s not box Capricorn into the cubicle: planning and strategy take immense creativity and the ability to think beyond the limitations of standard practices. In my personal experiences, I have found Capricorns to be anything BUT traditional. They prefer the explicit, but they are usually grounded into a reality all their own.

Mercury sextile Neptune could have us thinking imaginatively, stimulated by or drawn to fantasy and art. This aspect could relieve some of that emotional pressure, and allow us to enjoy the brainstorming phase.Take notes, you may hear yourself speaking from your intuition, your spiritual nature.

FOR THE BODY

Capricorn rules the knees, joints, ligaments, bones and teeth.

Boost your collagen intake to support cell regeneration and tissue elasticity, with seaweed or a rich bone broth.

For movement, explore your range of motion. Make sure you're in a supported position (either sitting, lying down or standing with a counter, table or barre to support you. And move SLOWLY. When you reach a point of resistance,  take a deep breath and try to reach through the resistant tissue for a good stretch. Do not move into the direction of pain unless supported by a professional.

We are all mystical beings in some way, shape or form. What is yours? If you were turned into a chimera tomorrow, what do you think your two composites would be, and how can you embody them this season?

Drink yarrow tea to support your personal boundaries, and mullein to help clear the body of any lingering mucus.

Work with and wear moss agate to ground you and garnet to support the heart and blood.

*I am not a doctor nor registered dietician. Please consult your PCP to make sure that any changes are correct for you and your body.
Tomorrow morning, the Sun and Moon will be in Gate 10.This is the gate of empowerment through the love of Self. Known in the IChing as “Treading” or “Conducting Oneself,” its overarching message is that awakening cannot happen without self-acceptance. Gate 10 is in the mystical G-Center of love, identity and direction, so it is fitting that it corresponds to Capricorn energy which is undeniably individuated. Truly accepting oneself is an exercise in simplicity, trusting the inner senses, and rejecting the influence of the ego to intellectualize everything. And it is through self-acceptance that we enter the state of love. The state of love which is not something you get, but something you are. If we find ourselves “in a Fate”—on a trajectory born out of false attachments—recognizing the thoughts, beliefs, and ideas that preceded our actions is the first step in correcting them; and thereby allows the invisible Helpers to aid us in righting our path.

Office Hours are back!
I have missed these one on ones. It’s been a busy fall opening the practice space for Honored Body, but I am so ready to get back to Office Hours. This is an online offering for folks who are curious about working with their design and with Honored Body. It’s an open discussion between you and me about your chart, what your current challenges are and how Human Design coaching could help. Although it’s not a definitive reading, your chart is consulted and there is no informational gatekeeping. You’ve got questions, and if I have the answer, my resources are yours.
Book your session, or gift one to someone who might be interested! Learn more by clicking here.
Are you a current or former client looking for more clarification? Send me an email and we’ll get a Counsel session on the books.

I had planned to do something formal for the Human Design New Year, but I feel my body (and the moon) telling me to rest, to move slowly, and keep things incredibly simple. So, for now, there will be a series of emails with informational videos, prompts and thoughts each week that we move into a different gate ahead of the Human Design New Year.
