Hello First name / Friend,,

It's time to turn the ordinary, extraordinary. Today's challenge was set by a mixture of library staff and community connectors in Cumbria!

Cumbria Libraries Outreach Team work together with our local communities to champion participation in creativity and culture. We support social connection, digital inclusivity, reading journeys, environmental awareness and celebrate diversity through our library projects, aiming to make culture and creativity accessible to everyone.

It’s fantastic to be more involved in the January Challenge this year and to see our co-created challenges shared nationally! We’re looking forward to making connections, pausing for thought and having some creative fun. We can’t wait to see the different ways in which people respond to the challenges.”

Cumbria Libraries staff invited local community group leaders and representatives to a challenge creation workshop with 64 Million Artists. Pictured above is the workshop in action, community members are gathered around a table coming up with ideas - including the one you'll find today! Post-it notes read ‘connection, community centred approach, friendship, no-one is left out, flexibility, compassion, fun’.

Add a face to an everyday object.
Imagine the background story of the character you have created.
Welsh Translation:
Ychwanega wyneb at wrthrych cyffredin.
Dychmyga stori'r cymeriad rwyt ti wedi ei greu.

Why did you choose your object and what characteristics did it have that led to its background story?
