Good morning First name / friend,
Have you ever had one of those thoughts that feels so automatic and natural you don’t even question it? You just ASSUME it's true.
The thought makes sense, maybe there's data to back it up, so you continue on.
But how many times is that a negative thought?
How many times is that a negative thought about yourself?
How many times does that negative thought about yourself spiral into hundreds of other negative thoughts about yourself?
Well, in October, that happened to me.
I had a negative thought about myself and it grew and grew and grew.
Soon, I couldn’t move to the left without bumping into the thought.
I couldn't move to right either and I sure as hell couldn't move forward without whacking my elbow on the damn thing!
The thought had CAGED me in!
And feeling self-conscious is very confining.
So, how did I get out of the cage, you ask? movement. I forced myself to move because after 2 months, standing still wasn't working.
First, I traced my steps back to the moment I felt myself start to shrink. I pin-pointed the event and asked myself, “What are my fears?” Once I figured that part out, I questioned if my fears were REALLY true.
Like 100% true.
And that's when I knew the answer. The thought wasn't true after all!
Then, I SHOOK my body.
I first learned about this specific shaking technique 10 years ago in a Kundalini yoga class and I've used it ever since.
See, out in the wild, animals move in all sorts of ways, but large prey animals specifically shake in order to reset the nervous system. This helps decrease stress hormones like cortisol and adrenalin.
This technique is also why most animals do not experience the
same stress related diseases humans do.
Anyway, I wanted to share this technique with ya'll so I created a short 2-minute video so you can see what I mean by SHAKING and try it out for yourself.
Spoiler Alter:
This technique looks weird, sounds weird, seems weird,
but my goodness does it feel good!
I hope this helps you move through some sticky-stuckness so you can break out of whatever thought-confining-cage you find yourself inside.
Good luck and let me know how it goes!
